The Dräger 7110 MK III FIN Evidential breath analyzer is classified as a quantitative analyzer capable to provide sufficient evidence for establishing legal intoxication. The purpose of this study was to evaluate ethanol specificity of this instrument in the presence of other solvents. Effects of eight possible interfering compounds on ethanol analysis were determined in a procedure simulating a human breathing. This paper presents the possibilities of separation of yttrium(III)-neodymium(III) and samarium(III)-neodymium(III) pairs by frontal analysis on strongly basic anion-exchangers Wofatit SBW, Wofatit SBK and Lewatit MP 5080 in the systems: 90% (v/v) 2-propanol-10% (v/v) 7 M HNO3 and 90% (v/v) 1-propanol-10% (v/v) 7 M HNO3. The best results are obtained on Lewatit MP 5080 in the 90% (v/v) 2-propanol-10% (v/v) 7 M HNO3 system. In this system, on 1 dm3 of this anion-exchanger, 1.95 kg yttrium(III) and 0.3 kg samarium(III) were purified decreasing the microcomponent content to below 10(-3)%.

Human glycodelin A (GdA) is a glycoprotein that is highly homologous to bovine beta-lactoglobulin A (beta-LgA) because the amino acid sequences are 50-60% identical. These compounds form a specific chemical profile that may be used to detect the colorectal cancer CRC-related changes in human metabolism and thereby diagnose this type of cancer. The surface chemistry of isopropoxy tetramethyl dioxaborolane (ITDB), tetramethyl dioxaborolane (TDB), and 2-propanol is studied on a clean Cu(111) single crystal using temperature-programmed desorption (TPD). 2-Propanol is found to have two competing reactions on the copper surface. Dehydration results in water and propene formation, and dehydrogenation results in the formation of acetone and hydrogen. In the current study, the haloalcohol dehalogenase HheC gene from Agrobacterium radiobacter AD1 was synthesized and expressed in Escherichia coli. After purification using Ni-nitrilotriacetic acid affinity chromatography, HheC was used in the synthesis of chiral epichlorohydrin in the presence of NO₂⁻. The optimal pH, temperature, and NO₂⁻ concentration for enantioselectivity are 5.0, 37°C, and 60 mM, respectively. Streptomyces caespitosus neutral protease (ScNP) is one of the smallest metalloproteinase with a molecular mass of 14 kDa. Effects of solvent composition on ScNP activity were examined using a peptide substrate. The k(cat)/K(m) values of ScNP exhibited bell-shaped pH-dependence with the optimal pH of 6.4-7.0 and the pK(a) values of 5.0 +/- 0.1 and 8.3 +/- 0.1. The binding properties of six indolocarbazole derivative have been measured using immobilised human serum albumin (HSA) in an HPLC column. The compounds showed very strong binding to HSA which necessitated the application of a 30 to 40% concentration of 2-propanol in the mobile phase.
