We present a retrospective study of 49 cases of squamous cell carcinoma of the pyriform sinus treated with induction chemotherapy (group I) and compared with 103 cases that did not received this treatment (group II). Thirty four patients were treated with combined cis-platinum and 5-fluoracil. Local and regional control and distant metastasis were analyzed, and no differences between the two groups were found. OBJECTIVE: To explore the feasibility of laryngeal function preservation in surgical treatment of hypopharyngeal carcinoma with restrained vocal cord motility.
METHODS: Twenty-six cases of hypopharyngeal carcinoma treated with conservative hypopharyngectomy were retrospectively analyzed. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate near-total laryngectomy in treatment of laryngeal cancers.
METHODS: Fifty-seven near-total laryngectomies were reviewed, among them 40 were T3 or T4 laryngeal cancers due to tumor invasion to the base of tongue or subglottic region.

We report an extremely rare case of combined small cell carcinoma (combined SmCC) of the hypopharynx. A 73-year-old male presented with multiple left neck swellings for 1 month. A tumorous lesion was found in the left pyriform sinus, and biopsy revealed that the lesion was squamous cell carcinoma (SqCC). BACKGROUND: Congenital nasal pyriform aperture stenosis (CNPAS) is a rare and potentially life-threatening source of neonatal upper airway obstruction. Treatment can be medical or surgical. Our objective was to describe CNPAS presentation and management.

Head and neck synovial sarcoma is rare. We report the case of a 71-year-old man who presented with progressive dysphagia, odynophagia, shortness of breath on exertion and hoarseness of voice.
