Reflex epilepsy is a syndrome in which seizures can be elicited by a specific afferent sensory stimulus or an activity undertaken by the patient. Among all reported stimuli, orgasm has rarely been mentioned. We describe a woman presenting with seizures following orgasm. On interictal EEG, no epileptiform activity was found, even during hyperventilation. We hypothesized that brainstem responses may allow detection of functional brainstem changes in patients with neuro-Behçet Disease (NBD). Thus, we recorded electrically-induced blink reflex (eBR), auditory blink reflex (aBR) and electrically-induced masseter inhibitory reflex (eMIR) in 16patients with NBD. However, these neurophysiological tests proved to have a poor overall sensitivity compared to neuroimaging for the diagnosis of brainstem lesions. They also showed low sensitivity for the differential diagnosis of focal pontine lesion versus diffuse brainstem disease in NBD.

Guillain-Barré is a rare, autoimmune disease of the peripheral nervous system. It can affect all ages beginning in the intrauterine or neonatal period. Clinical forms are diverse and include acute motor axonal neuropathy (AMAN). We report on a pediatric case of AMAN. A 2.5-year-old child presented with acute flaccid paralysis and preserved reflexes. A 57-year-old man presented at our institution with central chest pain. Serial ECGs showed dynamic T-wave changes, suggesting the possibility of unstable angina. Urgent coronary angiography revealed an unexpected finding of a radio-opaque lesion seen in the xiphisternal region during screening. Oesophogastroduodenoscopy confirmed this to be a 10p coin. The coin passed through the gastrointestinal tract without complications and the patient's symptoms and ECG changes resolved. This unusual case is a reminder that many diseases may electrocardiographically imitate an acute coronary syndrome.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: The Babinski Reflex, first described in 1896, is still an integral part of the neurological examination. Many have studied the consistency of this reflex, but none have compared the inter- and intra-observer consistency of the Babinski reflex and its variants.
METHODS: Thirty-four subjects were examined by six neurologists. The Babinski, Gordon, Chaddock, and Oppenheim reflexes were tested, and each neurologist concluded if the plantar response was flexor or extensor. Six subjects were re-tested 1 week later to determine intra-observer consistency.

The emetic (vomiting) reflex in a crocodilian, Crocodylus porosus, was characterised for the first time using the plant alkaloid veratrine (5 mg kg(-)(1) i.v. or i.p.) as an emetic stimulus. The latency to the onset of vomiting was 8.0+/-0.9 min (mean +/- s.e.m., N=5 animals).
