Excimer laser is the best and the more used technique for Astigmatism correction. Lasik is generally preferred to PRK and must be the choice for hyperopic and mix astigmatisms. Myopic astigmatisms are the easier cases to treat: the length of the photoablation is placed on the flat meridian. Hyperopic and mix astigmatisms are more difficult to correct because they are more technically demanding and because the optical zone of the photoablation must be large. Flying spots lasers are the best for these cases. The most important point is to trace the photoablation very precisely on the astigmatism

PURPOSE OF REVIEW: Laser in-situ keratomileusis has been tremendously successful in treating patients with mild and moderate ametropias. For patients with high degrees of refractive error, however, phakic intraocular lenses provide superior quality of vision without the risk of corneal ectasia. Early international results, as well as United States Food and Drug Administration clinical trials, have demonstrated the early safety and efficacy of phakic intraocular lenses. Nevertheless, long-term corneal endothelium cell density and crystalline lens clarity remain a concern.

PURPOSE: To quantify and compare higher-order aberrations (HOAs) in children after epiblepharon surgery.
METHODS: The medical records of children (mean age, 7.3 years [range, 2-13 years]) who underwent surgery for epiblepharon were reviewed retrospectively. Aberrometry was conducted before surgery and at 1 month's and 3 months' follow-up using the Wavefront Analyzer KR-1W. Corneal HOAs in the 4 mm and 6 mm optical zones were compared. PURPOSE: To report our results using PRK combined with PTK to treat keratoconus.
METHODS: Forty-one patients (70 eyes) underwent PRK+PTK with a Nidek EC-5000 excimer laser. PRK included spherical or cylindrical ablations, or both. PRK ablation zone diameter was 6.00 mm. A simple surgical procedure to cure post cataract-surgery astigmatism is reported.
