BACKGROUND: C-shaped canals are a complex root canal variation, most frequently observed in mandibular second molars. Their atypical anatomy can make root canal treatment more difficult and may lead to complications if not properly identified. The use of Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) offers superior visualisation of canals morphology compared to conventional radiography. While the prevalence of C-shaped canals has been reported in various populations, there is limited data regarding their prevalence and configuration in the Malaysian's multiracial population. Understanding these morphol

One year following root canal treatment and internal etching and bleaching of anterior teeth in dogs, the animals were sacrificed and the teeth prepared for stereomicroscopic or light microscopic examination. Evidence of cervical root resorption and ankylosis was noted on several teeth. The bleaching factors associated with the teeth exhibiting resorption were heat with 30% hydrogen peroxide. Resorption was not related to walking bleach or to internal etching alone.

The objective of this study was to test the hypothesis that the apical seal provided by thermoplasticized root canal obturations depends on the film thickness of the sealer used. The root canals of 120 maxillary cuspid teeth were instrumented and divided into six equal groups of 20 teeth. A thermoplasticized gutta-percha root canal obturator was used to make an impression of the lubricated canal and coated with a sealer cement before reseating. Five different sealer cements of known film thickness were studied. They were, in the decreasing order of film thickness, Roth's Type I Cement, Seal-ap

AIM: To report the successful clinical and radiographic outcome of a regenerative endodontic treatment.
SUMMARY: A 16-year-old male patient presented with a discoloured, maxillary left lateral incisor with a necrotic pulp. Radiographic examination revealed an incompletely developed root with an open apex. Under local anaesthesia and rubber dam isolation, an access cavity was prepared and the necrotic pulpal remnants were removed. The canal was disinfected without mechanical instrumentation with 5.25% NaOCl solution and dried with sterile paper points. A triple antibiotic (metronidazole, cipro

Unique anatomical deviations in canal structure are rare in anterior teeth, especially central incisors, and thus risk being overlooked. For successful intervention, a meticulous diagnostic procedure and treatment plan, significantly aided by cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT), are crucial. The case at hand explores the management of a maxillary left central incisor in a cleft palate patient, characterized by multiple developmental lobes, a bulbous crown, and an atypical root anatomy. The primary symptom was pain, accompanied by a history of trauma at age 8 years and ensuing tooth discolorat

This study investigated the percentage of voids and marginal gaps in oval root canals filled with pre-mixed or powder-liquid calcium silicate-based sealers, using the single-cone technique. Eighty-four mandibular anterior teeth with oval root canals were selected and prepared by Reciproc R25 instruments. Teeth were then divided into two groups based on the sealer: Pre-mixed (BCS, Bio-C Sealer) (n=42) or Manipulated (BRR, BioRoot RCS) (n=42). Microcomputed tomography (micro-CT) was used to evaluate the percentage of voids and marginal gaps in the apical, middle, and cervical thirds of the root

BACKGROUND: In the case of pulpitis the dentist has to differentiate between a reversible and therefore treatable pulpal inflammation and an irreversible damage of the pulpa, accord-ing to the clinical symptoms. From these one cannot draw conclusions about the effective histological condition of the pulpa. Early stages of pulpitis cannot be recognized by X-rayeither.
OBJECTIVES: By means of case studies in the course of daily dental practice the following questions are addressed:Is dental pulpitis an indication for the use of the Tibetan remedy Padma 28? Can a root canal treatment be prevente

Dens invaginatus is a morphological abnormality of the tooth in which the coronal tooth enamel and dentin fold inwards towards the pulp cavity. Dens invaginatus type III (Oehlers: 1957) is characterized by infolding of the enamel and dentin as far as the root apex. This report describes a case of surgical and non-surgical endodontic therapy for a maxillary lateral incisor with type III dens invaginatus, necrotic pulp, and an associated large periradicular lesion. The patient was a 16-year-old man. Periapical radiographs suggested the presence of an untreated area of invagination. Cone beam com

This study investigated the cleaning effect of different irrigation and activation techniques in removing residual tissue from the root canal system using 3D-printed resin models based on micro-CT scans of natural teeth. Eleven first mandibular molars with different anatomies were selected, scanned, and replicated six times each, resulting in 66 3D resin models. A hydrogel-based like pulp tissue was injected into the canals to simulate tissue. The samples were divided into six groups: (1) irrigation with saline solution without activation (control), (2) use of positive pressure with NaOCl, (3)

Mesoporous calcium-silicate nanoparticles (MCSNs) are advanced biomaterials for drug delivery and mineralization induction. They can load silver and exhibit significantly antibacterial effects. However, the effects of MCSNs and silver-loaded MCSNs on dentin are unknown. The silver (Ag) and/or zinc (Zn) incorporated MCSNs (Ag-Zn-MCSNs) were prepared by a template method, and their characterizations were tested. Then the nanoparticles were filled into root canals and their effects on the dentin were investigated. Ag-Zn-MCSNs showed characteristics of mesoporous materials and sustained release of
