OBJECTIVE: To examine risk factors and maternal and neonatal outcomes in ten cases of intrapartum rupture of the unscarred uterus.
METHODS: Uterine ruptures in women without previous cesarean deliveries were identified from an ongoing log for a 12-year period beginning January 1, 1983. Detailed information was obtained by review of hospital records.

Two cases are reported of tracheobronchial repair in which a posteriorly based intercostal muscle flap was incorporated into the membranous portion of the airway to increase the diameter of the reconstruction or to relieve tension in the suture lines. This technique permits repair of a small left main bronchus without compromise to the lumen and tension-free repair of the membranous trachea.

During a ten-year period 16 patients were seen with aortic rupture and false aneurysm secondary to blunt trauma. One patient underwent an acute operation, 4 patients had operative therapy elective delayed and 11 patients were operated on for chronic traumatic false aneurysm. We report nine patients with acute mitral regurgitation secondary to post-infarction papillary rupture operated between 1980 and 1992. Seven cases had posterior papillary muscle rupture. All patients were in critical conditions with pulmonary edema at the moment of surgery. The hemodynamic and angiographic findings were examined in 16 patients with myocardial rupture following acute myocardial infarction. The patients (9 men, mean age 55.8 years, and 7 women, mean age 64.0 years) had suffered an extensive transmural infarction, all but 2 cases involved first cardiac events. Rupture of the Achilles tendon is relatively uncommon, but most primary care physicians are occasionally faced with evaluation and treatment of such an injury. Diagnosis is not difficult and is based almost solely on the history and physical findings. To avoid misdiagnosis, the Thompson test should be performed in any evaluation of ankle pain. Traumatic bronchial rupture is a rarity. Its incidence is about 1.5% to 3% in most series of blunt chest trauma. We report a patient who presented after a road traffic accident with an apparently persistent pneumothorax which failed to respond to emergency treatment. This was later discovered to be due to a traumatic bronchial rupture. Complications to external cardiac massage with special regard to liver damage are shortly reviewed. A case story, in which a young healthy woman suffered rupture of the liver followed by hypovolaemic shock after a few minutes of cardiac massage and subsequent thrombolysis, is presented. It is discussed whether the common use of thrombolytic treatment will cause more cases of clinically important haemorrhage after external cardiac massage.
