BACKGROUND: Ewing's sarcoma usually presents in paediatric patients with its primary location being bone tissue. Nevertheless, we present such an adult case which arises from the small intestine. We registered thirty one cases of such origin published so far excluding ours.
CASE PRESENTATION: We report a case of 30 year old female who was admitted due to the persistent anaemia. Whole body computed tomography scan revealed abdominal mass in her left upper abdominal compartment. Surgery on the mass originating from jejunum was performed, although due to extremely complicated postoperative perio

Ewing sarcomas (ESs) are aggressive sarcomas driven by EWS fusion genes. We sought to investigate whether whole-transcriptome sequencing (RNA-seq) could be used to detect patterns associated with chemotherapy response or tumor progression after first-line treatment. Transcriptome sequencing (RNA-seq) of 13 ES cases was performed. Among the differentially expressed pathways, we identified IGF2 expression as a potential driver of chemotherapy response and progression. We investigated the effect of IGF2 on proliferation, radioresistance, apoptosis, and the transcriptome pattern in four ES cell li

BACKGROUND: Primary Ewing's sarcoma (ES) is typically seen within the long bones, vertebrae, or pelvis. Uncommonly, it can be found within the cranium among the rarest locations for primary ES are the skull base, in particular, the petroclival bone.
CASE DESCRIPTION: The patient is a 68-year-old female with past medical history of Stage III breast cancer who presented with severe retro-orbital headache and diplopia due to a cranial nerve VI palsy. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed a mass at the left petroclival bone with extension into the adjacent left petrous apex and into the poste

BACKGROUND: Ewing sarcoma is a small round cell tumor of bone or soft tissue originating from the neuroectoderm. Aggressive and highly malignant are the main pathological features of the tumor. Studying the effects of different treatments and other factors on prognosis will help us to understand the disease more deeply and find a way to actively deal with it.
METHODS: Through the search of the National Cancer Institute database, ewing sarcoma patients registered between January 1, 2004 and December 31, 2015 were selected as research goals. Summarize the basic information of patients included

Ewing's sarcoma (ES) is a highly malignant, small, round cell tumor that originates from the primitive neuroectodermal cells. Primary ES commonly occurs in early childhood or adolescence. It may present with skeletal and extraskeletal forms. The extraskeletal form is rarely encountered in the head and neck region and is extremely rare in the sinonasal tract. This is a case report of sinonasal ES in a 13-year-old female patient who presented with a 7-month history of right nasal obstruction, anosmia, intermittent epistaxis, snoring, and hearing loss. Clinical examination revealed a right nasal

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to review our experience of managing Ewing's sarcoma of scapula and to identify features predictive of a good outcome.
HYPOTHESIS: Surgery and neo-adjuvant chemotherapy would have a better survival than surgery alone.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: Between 1988 and 2018, 29patients, (14females and 15males) were treated at a single hospital: The median age at diagnosis was 17.6years (range: 2 to 51years). Of the 29cases, 3 were primary soft tissue Ewing's invading bone and remainder were bony sarcoma. Twenty three patients underwent surgery and 6 patients were mana

Vincristine is a widely used chemotherapeutic agent in paediatric oncology. A 7-year-old boy was diagnosed with non-metastatic Ewing's sarcoma of the pelvis. He was started on chemotherapy with vincristine-cyclophosphamide-adriamycin alternate with ifosfamide-etoposide. He developed recurrent vomiting after three cycles of chemotherapy. Evaluation showed oesophageal stricture involving the middle and lower third part. Biopsy was non-conclusive. His symptoms improved with dilatation. A chemotherapy-induced neuropathic dysmotility was suspected, and his chemotherapy was continued with serial dil

INTRODUCTION: Neck pain and torticollis are common symptoms in the pediatric population that rarely requires further investigation. However, in case symptoms persist, then a more meticulously approach should be considered. Underlying conditions such as infections, neck injury, autoimmune disorders or even cervical spine cancer should be excluded from diagnosis. Cervical spine cancer is a rare neurosurgical entity in the pediatric population and even rarer is atlantoaxial Ewing's sarcoma. In this report, we present a rare case of primary Ewing's sarcoma of the axis.

BACKGROUND: Common primary bone tumors include osteosarcomas (OSC) and Ewing sarcomas (EWS). The skull is a rare site, and literature about their treatment and survival is scarce. Using the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database, this study aims to assess the treatment and survival of skull OSC and skull EWS, as well as predictors for survival.
METHODS: Skull OSC and EWS cases were obtained from the SEER database. Patient and tumor characteristics, treatment modalities, and survival were extracted. Overall survival (OS) was assessed using multivariable Cox proportional ha

Treatment with intensification of chemotherapy using alkylating agents and Topoisomerase II inhibitors and radiotherapy has improved the outcome of patients with solid tumors such as Ewing's sarcoma. However, there are several reports of secondary malignancy following treatment of these tumors. In this article, we describe a 12 years old girl with ALL who had Ewing's sarcoma when she was 8 years old and underwent successful treatment but after two and half years at 12 years old, she came back with pallor and muscular pain.

INTRODUCTION: Ewing's sarcoma belongs to a spectrum of neoplastic diseases known as Ewing's family of tumors. This family of tumors is usually seen in osseous sites. Ewing's sarcoma of the cervix is extremely rare, with only 18 cases reported in the English literature. The immunohistochemical profile of Ewing's sarcoma overlaps with other malignancies like small cell carcinoma. The rarity and complex pathologic picture of Ewing's sarcoma of the cervix creates the potential for misdiagnosis. Hence, we believe this case needs to be reported to add to the available literature.

BACKGROUND: Limb salvage in extremity tumors is now established as an oncologically safe option without compromising long-term survival. En bloc resection followed by extracorporeal radiation and reimplantation is a biological reconstruction option in diaphyseal Ewing's sarcomas. We analyzed the results of 12 cases of diaphyseal Ewing's sarcomas treated using this modality.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Between March 2006 and March 2008, 12 patients with Ewing's sarcoma underwent enbloc resection and reconstruction, with reimplantation of the sterilized tumor bone, after extracorporeal irradiation.

We report a case of a primary Ewing's sarcoma family of tumors (ESFT) that was an incidental finding in the broad ligament of a 53-year-old woman. ESFT now includes tumors previously described as Askin tumor, neuroepithelioma, extraskeletal Ewing's sarcoma, and peripheral primitive neuroectodermal tumor. This is because of the discovery that all of the above tumors contain a specific gene rearrangement involving chromosome 22q12. On microscopic examination, the tumor was composed of small, round cells with mild nuclear pleomorphism and scant eosinophilic cytoplasm. There were large areas of tu

BACKGROUND: Ewing's sarcomas account for approximately 10% of primary malignant bone tumors. While most of the primary Ewing's sarcomas occur in the long bones, pelvis, or ribs, approximately 1-6% of these sarcomas arise in the skull. We found approximately 50 cases of Ewing's sarcoma of the calvarium reported in our search of the literature. Of these, 36 cases were reported in detail.
CASE REPORT AND DISCUSSION: In this article we describe a rare case of primary Ewing's sarcoma of the occipital bone presenting with acute obstructive hydrocephalus and review the literature.

Limited population-based epidemiologic information is available on Ewing's sarcoma family of tumours (ESFT), a rare group of neoplasms. Several associations have been noted on a few studies but results were not consistent, except for exposure to farming among cases and their parents. Here we present the non-farm findings of a nationwide case-control study of ESFT in children and young adults in Australia. The analysis included 106 persons with confirmed ESFT and 344 population-based controls selected randomly via telephone. Information was collected by interview (84% face to face). We found a
