We present a case of intestinal ganglioneuroma (GN) of the sigmoid colon in a 5-year-old girl, which caused intermittent colocolic intussusception. Ganglioneuromas are rare benign tumors of the autonomic nervous system composed of mature ganglion cells and satellite cells. Colonic GNs are uncommon. We describe herein the unusual case of a 76-year-old woman who was diagnosed as having sigmoid colon cancer after presenting with complete rectal prolapse. The rectal prolapse was considered to have been caused by constipation accelerated by the colon cancer. The relationship between colorectal cancer and rectal prolapse has not yet been clarified; however, this case report suggests that rectal prolapse can present as a symptom of colorectal cancer. Thus, patients with a sudden onset of rectal prolapse should be screened for colorectal cancer.

Localized primary extranodal Hodgkin's disease is rare, especially in the digestive tract. A case is reported in which primary Hodgkin's disease presented as an ulcerated tumour of the sigmoid colon. The prognosis and management of such localized extranodal Hodgkin's lesions are discussed.

This report concerns a 19-year-old man who complained of rectal bleeding of about one year's duration. Colonoscopy revealed a 10-cm segment of sigmoid colon characterized by the presence of multiple lesions identified as probable hemangiomas; one sessile dark tumor, 0.5 cm large, was snared endoscopically; histologic examination revealed a cavernous hemangioma. Three weeks later anterior resection was performed and histologic examination of the surgical specimen confirmed the diagnosis of hemangiomas.
