Two cases of gastric outlet obstruction, secondary to a pseudocyst of the pancreas, are described. The striking radiologic pictures are shown. The pathogenesis of this complication is discussed and a greater awareness of this entity is stressed.

A case of intermittent transverse mesenteric volvulus with elevation of the left hemidiaphragm and peptic oesophagitis complicated by numerous ulcers, some of them bleeding, is described. Diagnosis was clinched radiologically. Endoscopy make clear the nature of the haematemesis. In the light of the pathogenetic hypotheses applicable to gastro-cardiac syndromes, combined endoscopic and radiological examination may be considered as mandatory.

INTRODUCTION: Acute gastric volvulus (AGV), is an uncommon complication of large paraesophageal hernias (PEH), resulting in closed-loop obstruction that may lead to incarceration and strangulation. The aim of this study was to summarize the evidence on clinical characteristics, surgical treatment, postoperative complications (POC), recurrence, and 30-day mortality (30DM), in patients undergoing surgery for AGV secondary to PEH.
METHODS: A systematic review including studies on AGV secondary to PEH was conducted. Searches were performed in WoS, Embase, Medline, Scopus, BIREME-BV and SciELO. Pr

Gastric volvulus is an uncommon pathology that can occur acutely, in a chronic setting, or even as a casual finding. The primary kind occurs in 30% of patients. Secondary causes include hiatal hernia types II-III up to 70% of cases. The main treatment of acute gastric volvulus is gastric decompression, by means of a nasogastric tube (NGT) or endoscopy. However, it is not a procedure exempt from complications. Traditionally, definitive treatment involves surgery, consisting in hernia reduction with gastropexy/anti-reflux technique and/or hiatoplasty. We present the case of a 83-year-old woman w

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the feasibility and efficacy of laparoscopic absorbable fixation straps (AFS) for laparoscopic gastropexy in dogs.
STUDY DESIGN: Cadaveric and prospective clinical study.
ANIMALS: Five dog cadavers for the cadaveric study; 12 dogs for the clinical study.
METHODS: The pyloric antrum was affixed to the abdominal wall laparoscopically by applying a series of straps. The cadaveric study assessed potential challenges during the procedure and stomach mucosal penetration. For the clinical study, the total duration of surgery, time to complete the gastropexy, and the number o

Gastric dilatation-volvulus (GDV) is a common and catastrophic disease of large and giant-breed dogs. Treatment of GDV includes medical stabilization followed by prompt surgical repositioning of the stomach in its normal anatomic position. To prevent reoccurrence, gastropexy is used to securely adhere the stomach to the body wall. Effective gastropexy decreases the recurrence of GDV from as high as 80% to less than 5%. The purpose of this article is to describe the history, indications, and techniques for gastropexy. Gastropexy was first reported in veterinary medicine in 1971 for the manageme
