The self-assembly of block copolymer (BCP) thin films is a versatile method for producing periodic nanoscale patterns with a variety of shapes. The key to attaining a desired pattern or structure is the annealing step undertaken to facilitate the reorganization of nanoscale phase-segregated domains of the BCP on a surface. Multilayered thin films of chitosan (CH), carrageenan (CR) and montmorillonite (MMT) clay, deposited using the layer-by-layer technique, were studied in an effort to produce fully renewable polysaccharide-based thin films with low oxygen permeability. The relationship between body composition and skeletal metabolism has received growing recognition. Low body weight is an established risk factor for fracture. The effect of obesity on skeletal health is less well defined. Extensive studies in patients with anorexia nervosa and obesity have illuminated many of the underlying biologic mechanisms by which body composition modulates bone mass. This review examines the relationship between body composition and bone mass through data from recent research studies throughout the weight spectrum ranging from anorexia nervosa to obesity.

We present a model system to demonstrate that the positioning of biomolecules (membrane proteins) in a nonnative, complex thin film environment can be regulated by the phase behavior of film components. Partial separation between an amphiphilic polymer and a lipid drives the protein to a fluid phase, mechanically more similar to a cellular bilayer.

A rare case of bilateral scleromalacia perforans, bilateral peripheral corneal thinning (contact lens cornea) and unilateral orbital inflammatory disease in a 50 year old female patient with an indolent form Wegener's granulomatosis(WG) involving lungs and sinuses is reported. The patient survived for 12 years after the initial diagnosis of systemic disease. There was perforation of left globe following trauma and no perforation of the right globe till the last follow up of the patient.

PURPOSE: To demonstrate and analyze the fifth-order theory of oblique astigmatism of a thin spherical spectacle lens and make a comparison with the third-order theory and exact ray tracing.
METHODS: Fifth-order equations were derived and used for analysis of oblique astigmatism of a spherical spectacle lens to calculate analytically the shape of the lens with corrected oblique astigmatism for large angles of field of view. Due the presence of sibutramine and citalopram in a number of drugs, neurotransmitter reuptake inhibitors. Sibutramine reduces the reuptake of serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine; citalopram is an antidepressant drug of the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor. The thin-layer chromatography-densitometric behavior of some centrally acting serotonin reuptake inhibitors has been studied. The proposed analytical method is suitable for qualitative and quantitative analysis of sibutramine and citalopram.
