INTRODUCTION: Choledochoduodenal fistulas are very rare and in most cases are caused by a long-lasting and poorly treated chronic duodenal ulcer. They may be asymptomatic or followed by symptoms of ulcer disease, by attacks of cholangitis or bleeding or vomiting in cases of ductoduodenal stenosis. The diagnosis is simple and safe, however treatment is still controversial. If surgery is the choice of treatment, local findings should be taken into consideration. As a rule, intervention involving closure of fistula is not recommended.

Childhood socioeconomic status (SES) often is associated with physical health even decades later. However, parent-child emotional bonds during childhood may modify the importance of childhood SES to emergent health inequalities across the life course. Drawing on national data on middle-aged adults (1995 and 2005 National Survey of Midlife Development in the United States; MIDUS; Ns = 2,746 and 1,632), I find that compromised parent-child bonds eliminate the association between childhood SES and midlife disease. The term Marjolin's ulcer means the malignant transformation of chronic ulcers, sinus tract and burn scars. The most frequently produced neoplasm is squamous cell carcinoma. The pathogeny is unknown, involving mutations in the Fas gene. Main therapeutic management are consist of prophylactic measures, avoiding repeated traumas and prolonged cure periods. We present the case of a 48-year-old male with squamous cell carcinoma on the old burn scar of legs that evolved favorably after excision.

The review presents 69 references of current literature on the problem of gastroduodenal ulcer physiotherapy which has a good potential of impact on gastroduodenal motility, lipid peroxidation, microcirculation, physiological and reparative regeneration of epithelial and glandular cells. The choice of a physiotherapeutic method depends on the disease stage and to a less extent on location of the ulcer defect.

Indolent leg ulcers are a rare complication found in patients with hereditary spherocytosis. We report a 13-year-old girl with hereditary spherocytosis who developed a chronic painful ulcer on the medial malleolus. All other etiologies were ruled out. Nine months after splenectomy the ulcer healed completely and the symptoms disappeared. We discuss and review this unusual entity in children.
