"I didn't believe it was real": a qualitative exploration of COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy among key populations living with HIV/AIDS in Rivers State, Nigeria.

BACKGROUND: COVID-19 vaccination remains one of the most effective interventions against the pandemic; however, hesitancy continues to impede equitable coverage, particularly among key populations. In Nigeria, MSM, FSW, and PWID face heightened vulnerability to both HIV/AIDS and COVID-19, but remain underrepresented in vaccination research. Rivers State reported one of the highest numbers of confirmed cases and deaths in the southern region. The state also has a relatively high HIV prevalence rate and houses several key population OSSs. This study explored COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy among thes

Critical Insights Into Public Health Interventions: Partnership, Cultural and Racial Tensions, and Vaccine Hesitancy Within Somali Communities in the Upper Midwest, USA, and Western Norway.

As the COVID-19 pandemic recedes, SARS-CoV-2 vaccination is crucial for reducing transmission and severity, but vaccine hesitancy remains a challenge. The study explored community actions and initiatives addressing vaccine hesitancy among Somali immigrant communities in cities in the Upper Midwest, USA, and Western Norway, focusing on trust factors and comparing members of the Somali diaspora in two distinct social and cultural contexts. Qualitative collective case studies were conducted, involving 14 semi-structured interviews with key informants from the Upper Midwest and Western Norway know

Imprecision in adverse event reports following immunization against HPV in Japan and COVID-19 in the USA, UK, and Japan-and the effects of vaccine hesitancy and government policy.

INTRODUCTION: Erroneous reports of adverse events following immunization (AEFIs) likely exacerbated the 2013 collapse of Japan's HPV immunization program. A similar phenomenon characterized the first months of COVID-19 immunization programs in the USA, UK, and Japan with high rates of reported anaphylaxis. These reports illustrate the susceptibility of supposedly objective medical judgments to public anxiety. PURPOSE AND METHODS: This study documents inaccuracies in reported AEFIs using three quantitative methods. RESULTS: One of these quantitative methods revealed that false-positive rates

A Systematic Review of Factors Associated with COVID-19 Vaccine Uptake, Hesitancy, and Acceptability Among Adults with HIV: Implications for Integrating COVID-19 Immunization into HIV Care.

The COVID-19 virus, once a public health emergency, is now endemic. Immunization remains an important measure for mitigating high levels of disease, morbidity, and mortality related to COVID-19 infection. People with HIV (PWH), in particular, benefit from COVID-19 vaccination because of increased risk for severe COVID-19 infection. However, previous data suggest vaccine hesitancy among this population. Given this context and the evolving epidemiology of COVID-19, this review examines factors associated with COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy, acceptability, and uptake among adults with HIV. Through a

"If it wasn't forced upon me, I would have given it a second thought": Understanding COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy in an outlier county in the Bay Area, California.

While the San Francisco Bay Area counties rank very low in vaccine hesitancy and high in vaccination rates when compared to national numbers, Solano County has the most residents who are hesitant (6.3%) and the least who are fully vaccinated (51.6%) among Bay Area counties, according to the CDC. No studies to date have been able to provide the in-depth, localized information that would inform county-level public health interventions. This study aims to explore reasons and consequences for remaining unvaccinated in Solano County. Using a qualitative in-depth interview approach, we conducted 32

"You can push these conversations, but don't push your patient away": healthcare learner perspectives on virtual simulation games as an educational approach to address vaccine hesitancy.

BACKGROUND: Vaccine hesitancy is a significant threat to public health. Healthcare providers (HCPs) can address hesitancy during routine patient conversations; however, few multidisciplinary education tools exist for HCPs to learn to engage in vaccine discussion especially considering new vaccine technologies such as mRNA vaccines. The objectives of this study were to explore HCP learners' experiences with COVID-19 vaccine communication, and qualitatively evaluate an online learning module composed of virtual simulation games (VSGs) which utilize the PrOTCT Framework for HCP vaccine communicat

Timeliness of routine immunization in non-preterm children less than 2 years old using electronic data capture in an ambulatory setting in France in the context of vaccine hesitancy.

OBJECTIVES: The vaccine schedule was changed in 2013 in France, which resulted in fewer vaccinations. However, to maintain disease protection, both vaccine timeliness and high coverage should be respected. In the context of growing vaccine hesitancy, we aimed to describe compliance with the immunization program according to the age recommended for each dose for non-preterm children less than 2 years old. METHODS: Between May 2013 and April 2016, we used automated electronic data capture of electronic medical records for non-preterm children less than 2 years old. Children were followed up by

Trust of Italian healthcare professionals in COVID-19 (anti-SARS-COV-2) vaccination.

Background. Vaccination is one of the most effective tools available to Public Health. Its potential usefulness is threatened by the rise of vaccine hesitancy among the general population, which has grown as much as to prompt the World Health Organization to express its concerns on the matter. The risk posed by vaccine hesitancy is even more concerning in the light of the efforts to curb the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which focus mainly on mass vaccination campaigns. This holds especially true when applied to healthcare professionals, among whom vaccine hesitancy can be particularly detrimenta
