Long-term consequences resulting from road traffic crashes: A scoping review.

BACKGROUND: The huge number of road traffic crashes (RTCs) resulting in death, disability or injury renders road safety a crucial issue worldwide. Nevertheless, most of the available literature focus on the pre-RTC factors rather than the post-crash period. As a result, little is known about the physical and mental burden following a RTC. The aim of this scoping review was to summarize the evidence on the factors associated with the long-term consequences on physical and mental health of individuals involved in RTCs. METHOD: Long-term consequences, physical and mental health, quality of life,

Nucleation of α-pinene oxidation products with sulfuric acid.

Particle nucleation from trace atmospheric vapours is important for climate since it gives rise to more than half of global cloud condensation nuclei. Sulfuric acid (H2SO4) has long been recognised to drive particle nucleation in the atmosphere and, more recently, highly oxygenated products of biogenic vapours-in particular monoterpenes such as α-pinene (C10H16)-have also been shown to nucleate under atmospheric conditions, without requiring additional vapours. This raises the question of whether a nucleation synergy exists between α-pinene oxygenated organic molecules (AP-OOM) and H2SO4, as h

Water Insecurity, Social Perspectives, and Health Impacts in Private Drinking Water Sources in Pennsylvania: Two Systematic Literature Reviews.

Over 43 million people in the United States rely on private drinking water supplies for domestic purposes, yet 20% of water wells are potentially contaminated in some form. In Pennsylvania, 2-3 million rural residents use private water supplies for domestic purposes, yet Pennsylvania has no state-wide well drilling standards or water quality testing requirements for private water sources. The lack of implemented standards and monitoring hides potential water supply and quality issues and may affect water trust, health, and overall water insecurity. Therefore, we conducted two interlinked syste

Adherence to anti-malarials among patients diagnosed with malaria in East Africa: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND: East Africa continues to bear a significant share of the global malaria burden, despite its commitment to the malaria elimination goal of 2030. Furthermore, reported variations in adherence to anti-malarials hamper the regional effort in malaria elimination. Moreover, the region has no comprehensive and comparable adherence estimates for policymakers to set priorities, target control strategies, and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions. Hence, this systematic review synthesized the regional adherence estimate for East Africa. METHODS: Authors searched articles from PubMed,
