CoDrag: Coupled Label and Feature Prototype Dragging via Confidence-Aware Estimation for EEG-based Emotion Decoding.

Electroencephalogram (EEG) signals have been extensively investigated as a non-invasive modality with high temporal resolution for human emotion recognition. However, a fundamental challenge lies in the inherent mismatch between EEG features and emotional labels, a phenomenon we refer to as feature-label inconsistency. Such inconsistency primarily arises from the intrinsic non-stationarity of EEG data and their high susceptibility to noise. In addition, the instability of human emotional states, such as transition lags or insufficient immersion, further exacerbates the mismatch. To address thi

The Readability of Patient-Facing Information in Public Reporting System: Cross-Sectional Evaluation of the City of Helsinki Website.

BACKGROUND: Public reporting websites have become increasingly important for improving health care transparency and supporting informed decision-making. However, little empirical evidence exists regarding whether the readability of these websites adequately meets users' information needs, particularly in the context of digital health and Finland's ongoing social welfare and health care reform. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to evaluate the readability of health information on the City of Helsinki public reporting website. METHODS: A cross-sectional website evaluation was conducted using the Eng

CoDER: Consistent Drug Efficacy Ranking.

Drug ranking plays a pivotal role in drug repurposing and precision medicine by prioritizing candidate therapies under biological and clinical constraints. A major challenge is identifying drugs whose efficacy remains consistent across multiple human tissues, as heterogeneity in gene expression, regulatory mechanisms, and tissue-specific biology can lead to variable or unreliable therapeutic effects. Many existing approaches focus on single tissues or aggregate performance across tissues, obscuring important sources of variability. We present CoDER (Consistent Drug Efficacy Ranking), a graph-b

Robust Non-Invasive Monitoring of Cumulative Tibia Load in Male Recreational Runners Using Multi-Modal Wearables and Deep Learning.

Tibial stress fractures are overuse injuries in runners and are associated with cumulative internal bone stress. Current wearable devices usually measure external biomechanical loads rather than tissue-level stress within the tibia. We developed and evaluated a wearable-sensor-based surrogate model for reconstructing the temporal evolution of tibial bone stress in healthy male recreational runners, using participant-specific dynamic finite element analysis (FEA) as the supervision source. Dynamic FEA-derived stress fields from 50 male runners, with heterogeneous and orthotropic material proper

Explainable Transformer-Based Retinal Disease Classification.

Retinal diseases are a leading cause of visual impairment globally. Early detection is crucial for effective management, and recent advances in ocular imaging and deep learning have facilitated the development of automated diagnostic systems. Traditional deep learning methods often struggle to effectively capture the overall structural context of the retina and the subtle, localised pathological features required for accurate multi label classification. Moreover, their decision-making processes typically lack transparency, limiting clinical trust and adoption. In this study, we propose an expl

TwinFedSeg: Anatomical Twin State-Guided Federated Learning for Multimodal Medical Image Segmentation.

Federated learning enables privacy-preserving collaborative healthcare, while digital twins can represent institution-specific anatomical and modality states. However, federated multimodal medical image segmentation remains challenged by cross-center heterogeneity and missing modalities, while existing methods largely overlook the anatomical and modality complementarity of client updates. To address this problem, we propose TwinFedSeg, a federated learning framework guided by an anatomical twin state for multimodal medical image segmentation. Each client maintains a lightweight state comprisin

Efficient Privacy-Preserving Medical Cross-Silo Federated Learning.

Federated Learning (FL) is becoming increasingly important for advancing machine learning in the medical domain, as it enables collaborative model training across multiple institutions without requiring them to share raw patient data. Unlike traditional centralized machine learning, which gathers data and trains the model in a single location, FL shares model updates among multiple independent participants, thereby keeping their data private. However, this decentralized structure-while privacy-preserving in principle-significantly expands the attack surface. Model updates exchanged between sit

DINOSAM+: Structure-Guided Prompt Learning for Semi-Supervised 3D Medical Image Segmentation.

Semi-supervised 3D medical image segmentation under low-label settings often suffers from noisy pseudo labels and anatomically inconsistent predictions, which limit segmentation reliability. Existing methods primarily emphasize training strategies or loss engineering, but they still fail to sufficiently exploit structural priors to guide pseudo-label generation and unlabeled supervision. Hence, we propose DINOSAM+, a structure-guided semi-supervised framework for reliable 3D medical image segmentation. Specifically, a frozen self-supervised representation model, DINOv2, is employed to extract

DermL2V: Unifying Heterogeneous Dermatology Texts Via LLM-Driven Encoding.

Dermatology diagnosis requires text encoding models that map unstructured descriptions to clinical semantic representations. Using public dermatology corpora to train such models remains highly challenging due to the lack of a specialized dataset offering unified semantic triplets as well as the difficulty of adaptively weighting clinically informative tokens and enhancing discrimination between clinically different but lexically similar descriptions. In this paper, we first construct DermSCL, a dermatology-specific dataset that organizes heterogeneous dermatology texts into 140,278 structured

A mixture cure modeling framework for survival analysis of hospitalized COVID-19 patients: implications for hospital resource management.

BACKGROUND: COVID-19 has caused substantial global morbidity and mortality, placing unprecedented strain on hospital systems. Understanding heterogeneity in survival outcomes and identifying subgroups with distinct mortality risk profiles are essential for improving preparedness in future pandemics. Traditional survival models do not account for the presence of patients who are effectively cured within a clinically meaningful window. Mixture cure models offer a framework for simultaneously estimating the probability of long-term survival and the time-to-event among uncured individuals. This st

Topology-Aware Co-Domain Learning for Ultra-Low-Field MRI Enhancement.

Ultra-low-field (ULF) MRI offers a cost effective and portable imaging alternative for High-Field (HF) MR imaging, but remains limited by its low signal to-noise ratio (SNR) and compressed contrast resolution. Existing enhancement methods have shown promising improvements yet often fail to recover fine anatomical details or over-smooth high-frequency components, limiting their reliability for a high-fidelity synthesis process. To address these challenges, we propose a co-domain diffusion frame work that jointly leverages spatial and frequency representations for ULF enhancement. Our framework

Associations Between Digital Attitudes, Digital Inequalities, and Health Care Use Among Recipients of a Community-Based Laptop Distribution Program: Cross-Sectional Study.

BACKGROUND: Telehealth use expanded rapidly during the COVID-19 pandemic, yet persistent digital inequities continue to shape who benefits from virtual and preventive health services. Although community-based digital inclusion programs aim to reduce barriers to access, less is known about how device reliability, broadband conditions, and perceptions of online health information influence health care use after access is provided. OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to investigate associations between digital attitudes and access and health care use, including telehealth use and preventi

Structure and Semantics Aware Multi-View Contrastive Learning for Predicting Association Among lncRNAs, miRNAs and Diseases.

Exploring associations among long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), microRNAs (miRNAs), and diseases is crucial for biomarker discovery and precision medicine. Existing computational methods are hindered by sparse known associations and the complexity of biological networks. To address this challenge, we propose SSMVCL (Structure- and Semantic-aware Multi-View Contrastive Learning), a unified framework for predicting lncRNA-disease associations (LDAs), miRNA-disease associations (MDAs), and lncRNA-miRNA interactions (LMIs). SSMVCL constructs a heterogeneous bioinformatics network from multi-source bi…

A Multi-Resolution Hypergraph Transformer for Explainable Retinal Disease Prediction.

Retinal disease diagnosis is vital in ophthalmology, particularly for the early detection of various conditions to prevent vision impairment. Traditional models often focus on single-disease classification, overlooking the complexity of multiple co-existing retinal diseases and their interrelated features. In this work, we propose a novel Multi-Resolution Hypergraph Vision Transformer (MR-HGViT) framework for multi-label retinal disease classification and lesion characterization. Our approach constructs multi-resolution hypergraphs to capture both global anatomical structures and fine-grained

Hybrid Multi-View MRI Fusion for csPCa Diagnosis via Intra- and Inter-View Transformers.

Accurate diagnosis of clinically significant prostate cancer (csPCa) from multi-view MRI scans (axial, sagittal, coronal) is essential for effective treatment planning and improved outcomes. Although deep learning has advanced prostate MRI analysis, many approaches adopt late fusion strategies aggregating flattened features independently from each view, resulting in loss of spatial information and anatomical correspondence across views, ultimately limiting diagnostic performance. While Vision Transformers offer flexibility for multi-view patches, their memory requirements scale quadratically,

ProCausal-WS: Weakly Supervised Causal Representation Learning Driven Interpretable Prostate Cancer Diagnosis.

Current computational approaches to prostate cancer diagnosis rely on either linear causal models that cannot handle the nonlinear dependencies among imaging, genomic, and clinical variables, or on deep learning methods that demand exhaustive expert annotation and lack mechanisms for counterfactual reasoning. This work introduces ProCausal-WS, a weakly supervised causal representation learning framework that addresses both limitations simultaneously. It rests on three interlocking components: an invertible flow causal encoder that maps high-dimensional multimodal observations into a low-dimens

FedGA: Genetic Algorithm-Guided Federated Learning for Medical Image Segmentation with Non-IID Features.

Federated learning (FL) enhances data privacy and compliance with data regulations by enabling multiple decentralized parties to collaboratively train machine learning models without sharing their data. This makes it an ideal paradigm for the healthcare domain. Despite its inherent privacy-by-design, FL faces performance and convergence challenges when dealing with non-independent and identically distributed (non-IID) data. Although previous studies have primarily addressed the challenges of skewed label distribution across clients, which are more effective for classification, we focus in this

Fundus Image Enhancement With Pyramid Conditional Flow.

Deep learning-based approaches, which learn pixel-to-pixel mapping from input to output images, have demonstrated exceptional performance in enhancing low-quality fundus images. However, due to the ambiguous definition of the ground-truth high-quality image, the pixel-to-pixel mapping encounters an ill-posed problem arising from the complex one-to-many relationship between low-quality fundus images and their corresponding high-quality versions. To address this problem, this work proposes a PCFlow, the first normalizing flow method that learns the complex distributions of high-quality fundus im

Hierarchical Multi-View Graph Diffusion Weighted Model for Cancer Subtype Identification.

Accurate cancer subtype identification is crucial for personalized medicine, as it enables precise diagnosis based on molecular characteristics. With the advent of large-scale multi-omics data from various resources, researchers now have unprecedented opportunities to explore cancer subtypes comprehensively. However, the inherent complexity, high dimensionality, and heterogeneity of these datasets present significant statistical and computational challenges, often leading to suboptimal clustering performance when inter-omics heterogeneity is overlooked. To address these challenges, we propose
