OBJECTIVE: This study used high-resolution PET to explore the pattern of DIP joint bone metabolism to test the hypothesis that the nail was functionally integrated with the bone, based on patterns of distal phalange (DP) bone metabolism in PsA compared with OA and normal joints.
METHODS: A total of 234 DIP joints were scanned in 30 subjects (10 PsA, 10 OA, 10 healthy control) with [18F]fluoride using the quad-high-density avalanche chamber nano PET scanner. The images were assessed blinded to diagnosis and symptoms for site and intensity of increased [18F]fluoride uptake.

Age related differences in demographics, morphology, treatment and outcome were investigated in 701 fractures of the metacarpals or phalanges, including fracture-dislocations, in 655 patients. BACKGROUND: Partial hand amputation forms more than 90% of all upper limb amputations. This amputation has a notable effect on the amputee's life. To improve the quality of life for partial hand amputees different prosthesis options, including externally-powered prosthesis, have been investigated. The focus of this work is to explore force myography (FMG) as a technique for regressing grasping movement accompanied by wrist position variations. This study can lay the groundwork for a future investigation of FMG as a technique for controlling externally-powered prostheses continuously.

The results of surgery for Dupuytren's disease were prospectively assessed to see if there is a correlation between hand function, the degree of deformity and the post-operative result.
