Functional Outcomes of Capitellum Fractures Treated by Open Reduction and Internal Fixation with Herbert Screw: A Descriptive Cross-sectional Study.

INTRODUCTION: Based on the complex intra-articular nature of capitellum fractures, it has been sometimes difficult to formulate a universally accepted method of surgical treatment. The purpose of this study is to present the functional outcomes of capitellum fractures after fixation with Herbert screw including the safety and tips of the surgical approach. METHODS: This descriptive cross-sectional study was done from December 2014 to November 2019. Ethical approval was taken. The study included 22 capitellum fractures treated by open reduction and internal fixation with Herbert screws either

Symptomatic Imperforate Hymen in Early Infancy: A Case Report.

Imperforate hymen, though a congenital anomaly, usually presents late in puberty as lower abdominal pain, primary amenorrhea, and cyclical pain. Blood collects in vagina and uterus, proximal to imperforate hymen leading to their distention. Its presentation at infancy is a rare entity. We report such a rare case of symptomatic imperforate hymen in infancy, who presented with acute retention of urine, chills and rigor. Abdominal examination revealed an intra-abdominal mass in the lower abdomen and pelvis with the absence of vaginal opening on perineal examination. Contrast enhanced computed tom

Radial Head Dislocation with Ipsilateral Proximal Shaft of Radius Fracture: A Case Report.

Radial head dislocations are uncommon in adults. They are commonly seen in children and are generally associated with proximal ulna fracture. Radial head dislocation with associated proximal radial shaft fracture is rarer than isolated radial head dislocation in adults. Due to the rarity of this complex injury, in the absence of keen observation and meticulous attention, the correct diagnosis might be missed leading to unsatisfactory management and related complications. Here, a similar case of radial head dislocation with associated proximal radial shaft fracture has been presented.

Rare Cause of Tension Pneumothorax: Hydatid Disease of Lung: A Case Report.

Lung is the second most common site of hydatid disease, after liver. Pleural involvement of hydatid disease can occur, and usually follows the rupture of a pulmonary or hepatic hydatid cyst into the pleural space. When a patient presents with tension pneumothorax, zoonotic infections, especially hydatid disease of the lung, also has to be considered especially in areas with high burden of the disease. We report a 31 years male patient presenting with tension pneumothorax due to rupture of hydatid cyst of lung.

Anaphylactic Bronchospasm during Induction of General Anaesthesia: A Case Report.

Bronchospasm represents the clinical manifestation of bronchial muscles contraction resulting in reduced alveolar air flow. Non-allergic mechanisms or anaphylaxis underlie the genesis of perioperative bronchospasm, a potential anaesthetic disaster. Early recognition and treatment are crucial. We report a rare incident of anaphylactic bronchospasm without hypotension during general anaesthesia. Urticaria appeared in chest and abdomen suggesting anaphylaxis. After the event resolved with bronchodilators, surgery continued uneventfully. Vecuronium was the most probable culprit but confirmation wa
