Robust Nonvolatile Memory and Synaptic Emulation via Dual-Mode Modulation in ReS2/h-BN/Ta2NiSe5 Floating-Gate Device.

The integration of optical sensing with neuromorphic computing offers a promising pathway to overcome the von Neumann bottleneck in data-intensive artificial intelligence applications. However, realizing robust nonvolatile storage with synergistic electrical and optical modulation in 2D devices remains a challenge. Here, we demonstrate a high-performance floating-gate memory based on a ReS2/h-BN/Ta2NiSe5 van der Waals heterostructure. Under precise photo-electrical cooperative modulation, the device exhibits excellent nonvolatile memory characteristics, including a large memory window of 96.2

Van der Waals Heterostructures for Next-Generation Spintronics: Multiferroic-Mediated Magnetoelectric Properties.

The growing demand for energy-efficient information processing is pushing conventional complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) technology toward its fundamental limits, driving the search for alternative material platforms. Among these, magnetic systems are attractive for next-generation devices because they can store and transmit information via spin transport. However, manipulating magnetization states with electric currents remains intrinsically energy intensive. Multiferroic heterostructures, which combine ferroelectric and ferromagnetic orders, provide a promising route toward low-

Strategic Neurodelivery of Psychedelic Compounds: Bridging Molecular Pharmacology with Therapeutic Innovation in CNS Disorders.

Psychedelic compounds such as psilocybin, Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD), N,Ndimethyltryptamine (DMT), and 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) are emerging as novel therapeutics for neuropsychiatric disorders, including depression, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and addiction. Acting primarily through serotonin 5-HT2A receptor agonism, they activate intracellular cascades involving Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF), Tropomyosin receptor kinase B (TrkB), and the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathway, leading to enhanced neuroplasticity and synaptogenesis. Recent evi

A hypersensitive neuromorphic airflow sensor inspired by vision-compensatory scorpion mechanoreceptors for respiratory pattern analysis.

Efficient acquisition of spatial airflow information is vital for organisms to orient within complex environments and detect predators. For scorpions with degraded vision, specialized mechanosensory trichobothria provide a crucial vision-compensatory mechanism, enabling hypersensitive perception of subtle airflow fluctuations. Inspired by this evolutionary adaptation, we present a biomimetic neuromorphic airflow sensor (BNAS) integrating a bioinspired lever-amplification structure with a pressure-induced ionic enrichment mechanism. This synergistic design inherits the hypersensitive anemosensa

Tree shrew immune cell atlas identifies NR1H3⁺ tissue macrophages with conserved anti-inflammatory function.

Rodents are widely used in immunology but do not always recapitulate human immune functions. The tree shrew (Tupaia belangeri) is phylogenetically closer to primates than rodents and may help bridge this gap, yet its immune system has not been comprehensively characterised at single-cell resolution. Here, we present a single-cell transcriptomic atlas of the tree shrew immune system, profiling 39 cell types across 12 tissues. We uncover human-like tonsillar structures and two transcriptionally distinct splenic macrophage subsets: an NR1H3+ immunoregulatory subset and an IRF8+ pro-inflammatory s

Remodeling the pathological airway: advanced nanotechnology for diagnostics and therapeutics in cystic fibrosis.

Cystic fibrosis (CF) constitutes a prototypical lethal genetic disorder characterized by profound pathophysiological barriers that severely compromise both diagnostic performance and targeted therapeutic efficacy. Although the advent of cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) modulators has revolutionized disease management, the critical clinical imperatives for ultra-sensitive diagnostic modalities and deep pulmonary delivery systems remain largely unmet. This comprehensive review critically evaluates the transformative potential of nanotechnology in remodeling the dual dia

Chrono-modulated drug delivery systems for oncology: Mechanisms, translational evidence, and pharmaceutical innovations.

Conventional chemotherapy is limited by severe systemic toxicity, suboptimal pharmacokinetics, and nonspecific drug distribution. Chrono-modulated drug delivery systems (CDDS) address these challenges by aligning drug release with circadian rhythms, thereby enhancing efficacy and minimizing adverse effects. This strategy capitalizes on temporal fluctuations in drug metabolism, DNA repair mechanisms, cell proliferation, and immune function to refine pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic profiles. This review synthesizes recent preclinical and emerging clinical studies exploring chronomodulated ch

Multiomics approaches in Kawasaki disease: insights into pathogenesis and emerging directions for diagnosis and treatment.

Kawasaki disease (KD) is an acute febrile vasculitis and the leading cause of acquired heart disease in children. Despite decades of research, the etiology remains unknown and key mechanisms linking systemic inflammation to coronary artery lesions are incompletely defined. High-throughput technologies-including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, epigenomics, and immunomics-have enabled systems-level profiling of KD and highlighted reproducible inflammatory and vascular pathways. Multiomics integration increasingly supports convergent mechanistic axes, particularly interleukin

Soil Microeukaryote Diversity in the Crop Fields of Panama.

Soil microeukaryotic communities are essential for nutrient cycling and the maintenance of soil fertility, yet their diversity in tropical agricultural systems remains poorly characterized. In this study, high-throughput metabarcoding of the V4 region of the 18S rRNA gene was used to characterize soil microeukaryotic communities across three agricultural regions of Panama. A total of 7714 unique operational taxonomic units (OTUs) were detected in composite soil samples collected from 44 sampling sites. The high-altitude region showed significantly greater species richness and distinct communit

Regulation of tumor angiogenesis: Roles of lncRNAs in molecular signaling, microenvironmental remodeling, and anti-angiogenic therapy.

Angiogenesis is a crucial step in the growth and metastasis of invasive tumors. Tumor-induced angiogenesis is not due to a single factor; it involves activation of oncogenic signaling pathways and abnormal expression of angiogenesis-related genes within the complex tumor microenvironment (TME). Traditional research has primarily focused on the regulation of angiogenesis by protein-coding genes. In recent years, growing evidence has shown that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play important roles in angiogenesis. In this study, we systematically elucidate the molecular mechanisms by which lncRNAs

Deep Reinforcement Learning for Semantic Secure Energy Efficiency Optimization in IRS-Assisted UAV Communications.

The integration of semantic communication with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and intelligent reflecting surfaces (IRSs) offers a promising approach for next-generation wireless systems. However, jointly optimizing semantic reliability, physical-layer security, and energy efficiency remains challenging. This paper investigates an IRS-assisted UAV semantic secure communication system in the presence of a potential eavesdropper, with the objective of maximizing semantic secure energy efficiency (SSEE). We first introduce a semantic similarity-based secure energy efficiency metric to capture the

CrossFit participants' experiences of balancing family, work, and fitness in a South African context.

INTRODUCTION: Balancing family, work, and fitness is essential for overall well-being, yet navigating these competing demands presents a significant daily challenge. While work-family dynamics are well-documented, limited attention has been given to the integration of physical fitness into a balanced lifestyle. This study explored the experiences of CrossFit participants in balancing family, work, and fitness within a South African context. METHODS: A qualitative, explorative-descriptive design was utilized. Purposive sampling was used to recruit eight participants of diverse ages, genders, a

Health system governance and pharmaceutical policy in Australia and Qatar: a comparative overview of access, reform, and equity.

This commentary contrasts the healthcare systems in Australia and Qatar, emphasising how each nation addresses shifting health policy priorities amid demographic pressures, financing reforms, and pharmaceutical challenges. Australia, with its established Medicare system and institutionalised Health Technology Assessment (HTA), continues to face issues related to equity, rural access, and the demands associated with an aging population. In contrast, Qatar is actively reforming its healthcare infrastructure to support a young and diverse expatriate-majority population, with increasing investment

From the hospital to the community: reshaping the palliative care paradigm.

Palliative care (PC) has traditionally developed within hospital settings, shaped by biomedical models, specialist hierarchies, and episodic care delivery. However, demographic change, rising multimorbidity, patient preferences, and health system constraints increasingly challenge hospital-centric approaches. In contrast, improving the community palliative care model requires moving beyond the simple decentralization of services toward a more integrated, person-centered, and ethically grounded system of care. At its core, an effective community model must recognize the individuality of people

Phytohormone-microbiome interactions and epigenetic regulation of plant stress responses and priming.

Plants continuously face fluctuating environmental conditions, requiring tightly coordinated regulatory systems to balance growth and stress responses. This review synthesizes current knowledge on phytohormones as central integrators of plant-microbiome interactions, highlighting their dual role as internal regulators and ecological gatekeepers that shape microbiome assembly and function. Phytohormones, such as auxins, cytokinins, gibberellins, abscisic acid, ethylene, salicylic acid, and jasmonates, dynamically regulate plant development, immunity, and rhizosphere chemistry, thereby influenci

Strain-Tunable Phonon Coupling and Polarization Optoelectronics in Supersaturation-Grown Boron Phosphide Nanowires.

Boron phosphide (BP) nanowires represent a rare 1D semiconductor, combining outstanding chemical stability, ultrahigh hardness, and high thermal conductivity. However, their controlled growth and optical functionality remain largely unexplored due to irregular morphologies, toxic precursors, and complex synthesis routes. Here, we develop a supersaturation-engineered chemical vapor transport (CVT) strategy to synthesize air-stable, single-crystalline cubic BP nanowires with tunable diameters. Strain-engineered Raman spectroscopy reveals pronounced phonon broadening and symmetry-selective freque

Bioinspired Large-Area Polymeric Cucurbituril Monolayers with Ultrahigh-Density Nanopores Enabling Reversible Charge-Gating of Ion Transport via Host-Guest Recognition.

Achieving precise control over ion and molecular transport under subnanometer confinement, especially beyond passive sieving, remains challenging in nanofluidics and membrane science. Here, we present a bioinspired strategy that enables the formation of subnanometer channels together with the integration of tunable molecular recognition within 2D amorphous polymer membranes. Large-area membranes with a size up to 900 cm2 were fabricated by interfacial cross-linking of supramolecular assemblies. Molecular-level control over the amphiphilicity of cucurbituril host-guest complexes (HGCs) yields 1

Semantic Anchors: How Object Familiarity and Rotational Context Shape Rotation Perception in VR.

Redirected Walking (RDW) enables navigation in large virtual worlds by manipulating a user's viewpoint, yet the perceptual thresholds governing these manipulations are often treated as fixed sensory limits. In this work, we propose the concept of Semantic Anchors: objects that stabilise self-motion perception through high-level cognitive priors. In a psychophysical experiment $(N=22)$, participants judged virtual rotations while viewing familiar or arbitrary objects of varying sizes and rotational reference frames. Results reveal that scene semantics do not merely modulate thresholds but funda

Dynamic Object Detection in Maritime Navigation Scenarios Based on Vision-Radar Fusion.

With the rapid development of intelligent navigation technologies, accurate dynamic object detection in complex maritime environments remains a critical challenge due to occlusion, scale variation, and multi-target interference. To address these issues, this study proposes a vision-radar fusion-based dynamic object detection method. A cross-modal feature mapping mechanism is developed to achieve deep integration of visual and radar information, and an augmented Lagrangian optimization strategy is introduced to enhance feature consistency and representation capability. Furthermore, an improved
