The present study was undertaken to predict the persons prone to suffer from early onset of hypertension. Healthy sedentary volunteers (age 18-25 years) having normal blood pressure were asked about their history of familial hypertension, smoking-habit, alcohol consumption, existing worries/anxieties; these being the predisposing factors of hypertension. UNLABELLED: Acute ischaemic colitis (AIC) is being increasingly recognised as an uncommon cause of abdominal pain associated with fresh bleeding per rectum. It is paramount to maintain a high index of suspicion and adopt appropriate management strategies to avoid complications and inappropriate interventions. In this paper, we describe a case of AIC and review literature pertinent to the management of this condition.

Ultrasonography has been commonly used in the diagnosis of intraabdominal cysts like ovarian cysts. Massive ovarian cysts can mimic ascites clinically (a condition termed pseudoascites) and ultrasonographically and can cause delay in the diagnosis and management. Clinicians should therefore consider other differential diagnoses in cases of large intraabdominal fluid collection. We report such a case in a prepubertal female which was diagnosed as ascites by ultrasonography initially but later turned out to be an ovarian cyst.

Primary vaginal carcinoma in uterovaginal prolapse is a rare entity. We report a case of an 84-years-old lady, who presented with long standing vaginal ulcer in association with third degree uterovaginal prolapse. Incisional biopsy was taken from the ulcer. Endometriosis is a benign and common disorder that is characterized by ectopic endometrium outside the uterus. Extrapelvic endometriosis, like of the vulva, is rarely seen. We report a case of a 47-year-old woman referred to our clinic due to complaints of a vulvar mass and periodic swelling of the mass at the time of menstruation. The occurrence of congenital diaphragmatic hernia in adults is rare and misleading even to experienced clinicians. In contrast to neonatal diaphragmatic hernias, most of the adult patients present with vague gastrointestinal and respiratory symptoms mimicking other diseases. Hence high index of suspicion is required. When a diagnosis is established, it must be promptly treated surgically in order to avoid complications such as strangulation or bowel perforation. We present two cases of diaphragmatic hernia which were being managed as pulmonary pathologies.

With the rising incidence of caesarean sections, the number of cases of placenta praevia and morbidly adherent placenta is increasing. Antenatal diagnosis and management in a tertiary care centre helps to reduce maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality. We present a patient in whom the antenatal diagnosis of morbidly adherent placenta was missed due to late booking. In spite of the conservative approach at the time of caesarean section in the secondary care hospital, the patient presented with delayed complications and a total hysterectomy was performed.
