INTRODUCTION: Child abuse is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in children. The rate of missed child abuse in general emergency departments (ED), where 85% of children are evaluated, is higher than in pediatric EDs. BACKGROUND: In 2004, the CDC and the American Cancer Society (ACS) published performance guidelines recommending a validated method of clinical breast exams (CBE) using the vertical strips method (VSM) along with other key exam components. We examined the use of the VSM by academic medicine physicians and identified predictor variables for its adoption.

BACKGROUND: Less than 5% of breast cancer patients participate in clinical trials. To increase patients' awareness and access to trials, we created BreastCancerTrials.org, a clinical trial matching website.
