Brucellosis which is an important public health problem is a zoonotic disease that causes economic loss, and seen all over the world as well as in our country. The aim of this study was to compare the results of Rose Bengal test, standard tube agglutination test (STA), Coombs tube agglutination test, Rivanol tube agglutination test and ELISA (IgA, IgG and IgM) method, in patients who were suspected to have brucellosis. A study was carried out for detection of the adhesive antigen K99 on 84 Escherichia coli strains isolated from calves with diarrhea. The methods utilized were the Brush-Border and the slide agglutination tests; the strains were also tested in their ability to evoke mannose-resistant haemagglutination. The positive results obtained with the slide agglutination test were higher with comparison to the positive results obtained with other tests. The bacteria had the other piliated structures, besides the K99 antigen, that require further studies.

OBJECTIVE: Any erythrocyte transfusion among humans having type A or B blood groups is impossible due to antibodies causing fatal transfusion complications. A cross-match test is performed to prevent immune transfusion complications before transfusion. Our hypothesis is that the fragment antibody (Fab) part of the antibody (incomplete antibody) may be used to prevent an immune stimulus related to the complete antibody. Tuberculosis (TB) can manifest prolonged fever or fever of unknown origin, especially when it is located extrapulmonary. We report a case of disseminated TB complicated by iliac bone osteolysis and a gluteal abscess in a 75-year-old female patient with fever and bone marrow dysplasia. An indirect hemagglutination test for the diagnosis of leptospirosis is described; the test uses a soluble antigen from serotype patoc to sensitize sheep erythrocytes which are then fixed with glutaraldehyde.
