"Capillary permeability" to serum albumin has been measured in patients with collagen vascular diseases by a method which compares the dilution of intravenously injected (131)I-human serum albumin and (51)Cr-R.B.C.s. The results indicate an increased capillary permeability comparable to that which occurs in patients with extensive inflammatory skin disease. We suggest that this increased capillary permeability may be the cause of the episodes of oedema which occur in patients with collagen vascular diseases such as disseminated lupus erythematosus, systemic sclerosis, dermatomyositis, polyarte

Capillary electrochromatography is a miniaturized technique offering some advantages over conventional ones in separation science. It combines the best features of capillary zone electrophoresis (high efficiency of separation) and liquid chromatography (high selectivity). Because of the low flow rates, minute volumes of mobile phases can be applied, and therefore, it can be considered a green analytical technique. Capillary electrochromatography has been successfully used to separate many classes of compounds, including peptides, proteins, drugs, antibiotics, pollutants, enantiomers, etc. In t

INTRODUCTION: We aimed to develop an automated, low-volume method for thrombocyte counting in capillary blood using the Sysmex predilution (PD) mode.
METHODS: Microsamples were prepared by resuspension of 50 μL blood in 300 μL DCL CellPack. Thrombocyte counting was done in the impedance (PLT-I) and fluorescence (PLT-F) channels. The imprecision and bias was evaluated in >394 microsamples from adult blood. Preanalytical factors (skin-piercing, storage, and transportation in our pneumatic tube system) was assessed, and studies on pediatric microsamples were made for comparison. The improvement

OBJECTIVE: This study was conducted to investigate the distribution of placental villous vessels in pregnant women with different degrees of hyperglycemia.
METHODS: A cross-sectional study was performed using placental samples from 30 pregnant women without diabetes (n=10), with gestational diabetes mellitus (n=10), and with previous diabetes (type 1 and type 2 diabetes; n=10). Maternal glycemic control was evaluated using the glycemic mean and glycated hemoglobin levels. Placental samples were obtained during elective cesarean sections and processed for villous vessel analysis using immunohi
