The title compound, [Sn(C(6)H(5))(3)(C(11)H(14)NS(2))], features a tetra-hedrally coordinated Sn atom, as the dithio-carbamate ligand coordinates in a monodentate fashion. Due to the proximity of the non-coordinating thione S atom, distortions from ideal tetra-hedral geometry about the metal atom are evident with the widest C-Sn-S angle being 117.26 (5)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by C-H⋯S inter-actions, which generate helical supra-molecular chains along the b axis.

The crystal structure of the title compound, [Sn(C(5)H(10)NS(2))(4)], was originally determined by Harreld & Schlemper [Acta Cryst. (1971), B27, 1964-1969] using intensity data estimated from Weissenberg films. In comparison with the previous refinement, the current redetermination reveals anisotropic displacement parameters for all non-H atoms, localization of the H atoms, and higher precision of lattice parameters and inter-atomic distances. The complex features a distorted S(6) octa-hedral coordination geometry for tin and a cis disposition of the monodentate dithio-carbamate ligands.

Oxoammonium-mediated hydride transfer is an important yet relatively underexplored elementary step in C-H functionalization. The title compound, [Sn(C(4)H(9))(2)(C(5)H(8)NS(2))Cl], contains two mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit, with similar conformations. In both mol-ecules, the Sn atom adopts a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry arising from two C atoms, one Cl atom and two S atoms from the bidentate dithio-carbamate ligand, with one Sn-S bond much longer than the other. One C atom of the pyrrolidine ring is disordered equally over two sites.
