Anlotinib inhibits glioma cell proliferation, migration, and invasion by suppressing c-MET/AKT/mTOR signaling and altering autophagy-associated protein expression.

Glioma remains difficult to treat because malignant cells show rapid proliferation, diffuse invasion, and frequent recurrence. This study investigated the direct antitumor effects of anlotinib in human glioma cells and examined whether these effects were associated with hepatocyte growth factor receptor/protein kinase B/mechanistic target of rapamycin (c-MET/AKT/mTOR) signaling, apoptosis-associated responses, mesenchymal-transition-related proteins, and autophagy-associated proteins. U87 and U251 cells were treated with anlotinib in vitro. Cell viability was assessed using Cell Counting Kit-8

miRNA-204-5p acts as a tumor suppressor in gastric cancer by inhibiting cell migration, invasion, and glycolysis via the RAB22A/PI3K/AKT axis.

Gastric cancer (GC) is a highly prevalent and lethal malignancy worldwide. Accumulating evidence has shown that microRNAs (miRNAs) play essential roles in the development and progression of GC. In this study, we aimed to investigate the expression, functions, and molecular mechanisms of miRNA-204-5p in GC. We found that miRNA-204-5p was significantly downregulated in GC cell lines compared to their normal counterparts. Functional experiments demonstrated that miRNA-204-5p inhibited the migration, invasion, and glycolysis of GC cells in vitro and suppressed tumor lung metastasis in vivo. Mechan

ZEB1 serves an oncogenic role in the tumourigenesis of HCC by promoting cell proliferation, migration, and inhibiting apoptosis via Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway.

Zinc finger E-box-binding homeobox 1 (ZEB1), a functional protein of zinc finger family, was aberrant expressed in many kinds of liver disease including hepatic fibrosis and Hepatitis C virus. Bioinformatics results showed that ZEB1 was abnormally expressed in HCC tissues. However, to date, the potential regulatory role and molecular mechanisms of ZEB1 are still unclear in the occurrence and development of HCC. This study demonstrated that the expression level of ZEB1 was significantly elevated both in liver tissues of HCC patients and cell lines (HepG2 and SMMC-7721 cells). Moreover, ZEB1 cou

Nance-Horan Syndrome-like 1 protein negatively regulates Scar/WAVE-Arp2/3 activity and inhibits lamellipodia stability and cell migration.

Cell migration is important for development and its aberrant regulation contributes to many diseases. The Scar/WAVE complex is essential for Arp2/3 mediated lamellipodia formation during mesenchymal cell migration and several coinciding signals activate it. However, so far, no direct negative regulators are known. Here we identify Nance-Horan Syndrome-like 1 protein (NHSL1) as a direct binding partner of the Scar/WAVE complex, which co-localise at protruding lamellipodia. This interaction is mediated by the Abi SH3 domain and two binding sites in NHSL1. Furthermore, active Rac binds to NHSL1 a

Thymosin β4 inhibits PDGF-BB induced activation, proliferation, and migration of human hepatic stellate cells via its actin-binding domain.

OBJECTIVES: Hepatic stellate cells (HSC) trans-differentiation is central to the development of liver fibrosis, marked by the expression of pro-fibrogenic genes and the proliferation and migration of activated HSC. Therefore, preventing and/or reverting the activation, proliferation, and migration of HSC may lead to new therapies for treating fibrosis/cirrhosis. Thymosin β4 (Tβ4) inhibits PDGF-BB-induced fibrogenesis, proliferation and migration of HSC by blocking Akt phosphorylation. Here, we utilized Tβ4-derived peptides: amino-terminal-Ac-SDKPDMAEIEKFDKS (1-15aa) and actin-binding-LKKTETQ (
