A Half-century Experience of Running Journal Clubs and applying Interactive Teaching-learning Methods at Orthopedic Department of Tehran University of Medical Sciences.

Journal club is crucial in medical professions education, especially residency training. Critical evaluation allows learners to read, understand, and apply the evidence to bridge the gap between research and practice. Academic members of the Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) Orthopedic Department have held about 2,300 weekly sessions for around 50 years, even in times of crises, to review the latest publications in orthopedics and sometimes linked their journal clubs to hospitalized cases. Considering the educational and research-related nature of journal clubs, educational planning

Factors affecting learning in a coronary artery disease rehabilitation class.

One hundred patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) were studied to determine which factors affect their baseline knowledge and retention of knowledge about CAD and whether CAD classes are an effective teaching tool. All patients were given a pretest about CAD. Patients then attended a 1-hour rehabilitation class about CAD. One month later, they were given an identical posttest. Pretest scores had a negative correlation with patient age and positive correlations with the number of years of formal education, the number of previous myocardial infarctions, and the number of previous CAD class

Sibling Bereavement Among Young Indian Adults.

This qualitative study explores the bereavement experiences of 12 surviving siblings in India, focusing on familial, societal, and cultural influences. Six themes emerged: "The Demanding Familial Role," "Isolation That Accompanies the Grief," "Damaging Impact of Society," "Positive Role of Friends and Family," "Support Systems," and "Continuing Bonds." Participants often felt the burden of supporting their parents, leading to personal grief suppression and isolation, exacerbated by societal stigmas. Conversely, empathetic friends, supportive extended family, and professional resources like the

A survey of Canadian public health personnel regarding knowledge, practice and education of zoonotic diseases.

Zoonoses, diseases that can spread under natural conditions between humans and other animals, are become a major public health concern in many countries including Canada. In Canada, investigations of zoonotic disease incidents are often conducted by public health inspectors (PHIs). However, little is known about PHIs' knowledge of transmission of zoonotic pathogens, their perceptions of zoonotic disease importance or their education regarding zoonotic diseases. The objective of this study was therefore to assess the knowledge, perceptions and education of Canadian PHIs regarding zoonotic disea

Innovative Educational Program to Aid Clinical Vessel Wall MR Imaging Interpretation among Neuroradiologists.

Innovations that introduce new knowledge domains face greater barriers to adoption, often requiring investment in infrastructure, training/education, and cultural change. Sustaining and scaling an advanced clinical vessel wall MR imaging program requires technical resources and subspecialized neuroradiologists with advanced cerebrovascular expertise. A multifaceted educational program, including lectures, reporting templates, and an online resource, was implemented within a large academic Neuroradiology Division to address neuroradiology workforce readiness. Seven faculty "superusers" interest

The Alberta Hereditary Diseases Program: a regional model for delivery of genetic services.

Genetic counselling and related services are generally provided at major university medical centres because they are very specialized. The need for rurally based genetic services prompted the inclusion of an outreached program in the Alberta Hereditary Diseases Program (AHDP), which was established in 1979; the AHDP was designed to provide services to the entire province through two regional centres and seven outreach clinics. There is a community health nurse in almost every health unit whose duties are either totally or partially devoted to the AHDP; thus, genetic help and information are as
