Cubical Model of Intelligence: Phenomenological and Cognitive Approach to Seven Aspects of Mind.

This paper presents the Cubic Model of Intelligence — a phenomenological and cognitive approach to understanding seven interrelated aspects of the mind: logic, emotion, intuition, memory, ethics, social context, and temporal foresight. The model is derived from observation of internal thinking processes and proposes to view these aspects not as separate functions but as facets of a unified cognitive structure, whose interactions shape human understanding and decision-making. In this study, the cube is not treated as a symbolic image but as a theoretical hypothesis about the structural organizat

Association of Adverse Outcomes With Emotion Processing and Its Neural Substrate in Individuals at Clinical High Risk for Psychosis.

IMPORTANCE: The development of adverse clinical outcomes in patients with psychosis has been associated with behavioral and neuroanatomical deficits related to emotion processing. However, the association between alterations in brain regions subserving emotion processing and clinical outcomes remains unclear. OBJECTIVE: To examine the association between alterations in emotion processing and regional gray matter volumes in individuals at clinical high risk (CHR) for psychosis, and the association with subsequent clinical outcomes. DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS: This naturalistic case-con

Low-grade inflammation decreases emotion recognition - Evidence from the vaccination model of inflammation.

The ability to adequately interpret the mental state of another person is key to complex human social interaction. Recent evidence suggests that this ability, considered a hallmark of 'theory of mind' (ToM), becomes impaired by inflammation. However, extant supportive empirical evidence is based on experiments that induce not only inflammation but also induce discomfort and sickness, factors that could also account for temporary social impairment. Hence, an experimental inflammation manipulation was applied that avoided this confound, isolating effects of inflammation and social interaction. F

Associations between emotion recognition and social networking site addiction.

With the widespread use of the internet today, many studies have been conducted regarding the use of social networking sites (SNS). Despite the growing literature on the effects of SNS on human life, there are limited successful therapeutic interventions for SNS addiction. Our study aimed to elucidate the potential role of emotion recognition in the development of SNS addiction and to propose novel strategies for alleviating problems emerging from SNS addiction. A total of 337 individuals participated in the study. A sociodemographic data form, the Reading the Mind in the Eyes Test (RMET), and

The artificial intelligence technology for immersion experience and space design in museum exhibition.

This study proposes an optimization model for museum exhibition space design based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, aimed at enhancing the flow and interactivity of museum visits. The model integrates reinforcement learning, computer vision (CV), and affective computing to optimize spatial layout and interactive design, thereby improving both visit efficiency and audience experience. Experimental results show that the optimized layout increases spatial fluency by 18.1%, reduces congestion, and improves visitor efficiency. The exhibit visit rate rises by 50.0%, indicating that the de

Understanding Variability in Long-Term Psychological Adjustment of Prelingually Deaf Young Adults Implanted During Childhood.

BACKGROUND: Young adults who received cochlear implants (CI) during childhood experience considerable variability in psychological adjustment. Understanding and explaining this within-group variability can help to identify CI users who are at risk for adjustment problems and suggest intervention strategies. This study investigated associations between psychological adjustment and hearing history, speech-language skills, and nonverbal intelligence in young adults who received CIs in childhood. METHODS: Study participants were 30 young adult CI users aged 18-27 years, who were implanted at age

An Adolescent with Bestiality Behaviour: Psychological Evaluation and Community Health Concerns.

Bestiality is a serious but less commonly reported form of animal cruelty occurring in a society. It is a punishable sexual offence in India. Bestiality has received little attention in recent psychiatric literature, and even though case reports have been published, an elaborate psychological assessment is often missing. This case report of 18 year old male presented here highlighted the importance of psychological assessment to emphasize on its implications for the further risk assessment of the person, family psycho-education and non-pharmacological intervention for bestialists. The overall

Driver Monitoring System Using Computer Vision for Real-Time Detection of Fatigue, Distraction and Emotion via Facial Landmarks and Deep Learning.

Car accidents remain a leading cause of death worldwide, with drowsiness and distraction accounting for roughly 25% of fatal crashes in Ecuador. This study presents a real-time driver monitoring system that uses computer vision and deep learning to detect fatigue, distraction, and emotions from facial expressions. It combines a MobileNetV2-based CNN trained on RAF-DB for emotion recognition and MediaPipe's 468 facial landmarks to compute the EAR (Eye Aspect Ratio), the MAR (Mouth Aspect Ratio), the gaze, and the head pose. Tests with 27 participants in both real and simulated driving environme

Psychological assessments before and after treatment of early puberty in adopted children.

UNLABELLED: Early puberty is frequently observed in adopted children. This randomized trial treated 30 adopted children with early puberty and short stature with either gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist (GnRHa) alone or in combination with growth hormone (GH) for 3 y. Before the start of treatment (T1) in the trial and at discontinuation (T2) the children and their parents underwent a psychological evaluation. At the start of treatment the children did not have increased levels of behavioural or emotional problems as assessed by the Child Behaviour Checklist (CBCL). During treatment the C

Reimagining intensive care unit recovery: The Critical Illness Survivorship Programme for humanising post-intensive care unit care - A discussion paper.

BACKGROUND: Survivorship after critical illness is often characterised by fragmented recovery and lingering cognitive, psychological, and physical impairments collectively described as post-intensive care syndrome. Current recovery frameworks and follow-up models remain inconsistently delivered, poorly standardised, and rarely address survivors' and families' need to make sense of the intensive care unit (ICU) experience in a transparent, inclusive, and sensitive way. The Critical Illness Survivorship Programme is proposed to humanise post-intensive care by integrating generative artificial in

Anxiety and depression in patients with breast cancer undergoing radiotherapy: the role of intelligence, life history, and social support-preliminary results from a monocentric analysis.

PURPOSE: It is known that the diagnosis of breast cancer often causes anxiety and depression. Radiotherapy of the breast as an obligatory part of a breast-conserving treatment concept can markedly increase these psychological symptoms in many, but not all patients. In this clinical observational study, we aimed at identifying cognitive, health-related and social factors that may either enhance or reduce the emergence of anxiety and depression. METHODS: Using a longitudinal study design with 25 women (mean age: 52.9 years; SD = 10.6; age range 29-70 years) with a first diagnosis of nonmetastat

Hearing Aids Reshape Neural Processing of Emotional Speech Without Improving Emotion Perception.

Hearing aids have improved speech intelligibility but not speech emotion perception in older adults with hearing loss. Hearing loss has also been linked to altered brain responses to emotional non-speech sounds, potentially contributing to the speech emotion perception deficits even under aided listening. While fMRI requires hearing aid removal due to metal incompatibility, fNIRS is silent and hearing-aid compatible, creating a novel opportunity to identify neural processes during aided listening. We leveraged fNIRS to examine how hearing aids affect brain function in experienced hearing-aid u

The effects of multi-sensory public seating on emotion regulation in youth communities.

As urban housing pressures intensify, co-living communities are emerging as a new residential model for young adults. However, the high prevalence of depression and anxiety among this population highlights the potential value of incorporating emotional healing design in shared community spaces, particularly emphasizing the potential role of multi-sensory stimuli as a design intervention for emotion regulation. This study investigates the mechanism and evaluation pathway of multi-sensory healing community public seating design in regulating the emotions of youth in shared community spaces. Util

Communicative deficits in agenesis of the corpus callosum: nonliteral language and affective prosody.

While some individuals with agenesis of the corpus callosum can perform normally on standardized intelligence tests, clinical observations suggest that they nevertheless have deficits in the domains of fluid and social intelligence. Particularly important for social competence is adequate understanding and use of paralinguistic information. This study examined the impact of callosal absence on the processing of pragmatic and paralinguistic information. Young adult males with agenesis of the corpus callosum (ACC) were evaluated in the areas of nonliteral language comprehension, proverb recognit
