Five cases of symptomatic acquired positive ulnar variance are described. All cases occurred due to premature physeal closure of the growth plate in teenage girl gymnasts. All cases demonstrated ulnocarpal impingement, for which we describe a clinical test. Arthroscopic assessment of the wrist allowed us to assess the integrity of the TFCC (triangular fibrocartilaginous complex) and decide on the most appropriate surgery. Two patients needed distal ulna recession and one needed shaving for a TFCC perforation, with a good result.

We report on a form of multiple epiphyseal dysplasia with striking acromelic shortness in a woman and five of her ten children. The somatometric and metacarpo-phalangeal pattern profile of the affected individual showed short limb dwarfism and shortness of all the tubular bones of the hand. Four cases of progressive valgus deformity following a juxta-epiphyseal fracture of the proximal end of the tibia are presented. We suggest that the deformity is due to asymmetrical growth of the physis. Since this type of fracture tends to create a deformity, an anatomical or even overcorrected reduction is required. Long follow-up is necessary.

The management of constitutional knee deformities may be a challenge. In most cases, the deformities are limited and accessible to conventional osteotomy techniques. This case reports an adult with extreme epiphyseal dysplasia of both distal femurs, and its management by a new osteotomy technique. At the last follow-up, 2.8 years after the previous surgery, the patient was walking without limitation or pain, and all osteotomies were healed. He had a Knee Society Score (KSS) of 57 and a functional KSS score of 100.

In this study, we introduced an alternative reconstruction option for epiphysis-sparing tumour resection in children. Eight patients with a malignant tumour in the diaphysis or metaphysis-diaphysis junction of a long bone underwent epiphysis-sparing intercalary resection.
