A mixed spatial prediction model in estimating spatiotemporal variations in benzene concentrations in Taiwan.

It is well known benzene negatively impacts human health. This study is the first to predict spatial-temporal variations in benzene concentrations for the entirety of Taiwan by using a mixed spatial prediction model integrating multiple machine learning algorithms and predictor variables selected by Land-use Regression (LUR). Monthly benzene concentrations from 2003 to 2019 were utilized for model development, and monthly benzene concentration data from 2020, as well as mobile monitoring vehicle data from 2009 to 2019, served as external data for verifying model reliability. Benzene concentrat

Enhanced diagnostic interpretation of the MoCA using machine learning.

INTRODUCTION: Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly being integrated into clinical practice to optimize diagnosis in neurocognition. By capturing distinct cognitive signatures, this approach may offer a more precise alternative to the traditional interpretation of the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) which often relies on a fixed cutoff score (26/30). We aimed to evaluate whether machine learning models, by integrating detailed MoCA subtest scores, demographic variables, and cognitive chart-derived metrics, can improve the detection of cognitive impairment and classification of deme

Contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging based calf muscle perfusion and machine learning in peripheral artery disease.

Peripheral artery disease (PAD) remains underdiagnosed and undertreated and is associated with an increased risk for adverse cardiovascular outcomes. Imaging provides an approach to identifying patients with PAD. However, the role of integrating imaging with machine learning to identify PAD patients and potentially assess disease severity remains understudied. A total of 56 participants, including 36 PAD patients with intermittent claudication and 20 matched controls, underwent contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (CE-MRI) calf muscle perfusion scanning. CE-MRI-derived dynamic muscle p

Noninvasive prediction of perineural invasion in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma by clinicoradiological features and computed tomography radiomics based on interpretable machine learning: a multicenter cohort study.

BACKGROUND: Perineural invasion (PNI) of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is a strong independent risk factor for tumour recurrence and long-term patient survival. However, there is a lack of noninvasive tools for accurately predicting the PNI status. The authors develop and validate a combined model incorporating radiomics signature and clinicoradiological features based on machine learning for predicting PNI in ICC, and used the Shapley Additive explanation (SHAP) to visualize the prediction process for clinical application. METHODS: This retrospective and prospective study included 24
