UNLABELLED: The classic Maisonneuve fracture is localized to the proximal portion of the fibula, in association with disruption of the ankle that involves tibiofibular diastasis. This report, however, describes a case involving a Maisonneuve fracture in the presence of intact deltoid and tibiofibular syndesmotic ligaments. When this injury is suspected, further diagnostic imaging and intraoperative assessment may be useful, and operative repair does not require the use of trans-syndesmotic fixation.

We reserve the fibula pro tibia procedure for infected nonunions or for cases that already have been subjected to one or more other methods of treatment. It is uncommon for tire explosion related injuries on the lower extremity. The bilateral lower extremities were injured by tire explosion when the patient was seated in a bus. She sustained an open fracture with partial bone loss in the right calcaneus (a comminuted fracture in the right ankle joint) and a closed comminuted fracture in the left tibia and fibula. This damage was caused by uncontacted tire explosion, thanks to a thick floor between the exploded tire and the patient's feet. This type of injury on lower extremity caused by uncontacted tire explosion was uncommon.

Nine rotational injuries of the distal tibial growth plate in combination with spiral fracture of the fibula were treated in our department between 1993 and 2000. BACKGROUND: Weber B fractures with concomitant deltoid ligament injury have traditionally been operated with open reduction and internal fixation of the fibular fracture. We present the case of an 8-year-old girl casualty of the Syrian conflict who arrived with open fractures of the right tibia and fibula with extensive bone and soft tissue loss as well as an open fracture of the left calcaneus as the result of a high-energy blast injury. She was successfully treated with repeated debridement procedures, external fixation with acute temporary shortening and angulation of the right leg and skin grafting to both lower limbs.

In a retrospective study in children aged 0-18 years, 457 ankle fractures in children were classified traumatologically according to Gerner-Smidt or Lauge-Hansen. Anatomically, ankle fractures with open growth plates were classified according to the Salter-Harris classification. CASE REPORT: We report a case of 35-year-old female who sustained left distal tibia-fibula fracture after a trivial fall, later diagnosed to have left inferior parathyroid adenoma. The fracture was managed conservatively and left inferior parathyroidectomy for the adenoma. At 4 years follow-up, there are no clinical or biochemical signs of recurrence.
