OBJECTIVE: We aim to evaluate the complications of spinal cord stimulation (SCS).
METHODS: This article is a nonsystematic review of literature about the safety of SCS. The complications of this technique are described, focusing the analysis in their prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
RESULTS: Electrode migration is the most common complication of SCS and it is more frequent with percutaneous electrodes than with paddle-type ones. Intra-articular migration of an epiphysiodesis staple is an unreported complication in the literature. We report the case of a 16-year-old boy who presented with a loose distal femoral epiphysiodesis staple migrated into the posterior compartment of the knee joint. During arthroscopy, a posteromedial capsulotomy and a posterolateral portal were used and the staple was removed. This case highlights the potential complication of staple intra-articular migration and the arthroscopic approach to removal.

We report on a 14-year-old Arabian girl who suddenly developed coughing after having aspirated a needle used for fixing her headscarf. The chest X-ray showed the needle located in the right main bronchus. However, subsequent flexible bronchoscopy could not detect any foreign body. A further X-ray of the abdomen showed the needle now behind the diaphragm. Gastro-oesophageal endoscopy was also uneventful. On the third day, the needle was excreted naturally. PURPOSE: To describe the use of a new, frosted Jones Pyrex tube in the treatment of obstructed canaliculi of the upper lacrimal system. A vegetable foreign body located inside the testicular parenchyma is presented. It's about an unexpected pathological finding in an orchidectomy sample, performed on account of testicular atrophy secondary to very advanced funicular twist. The finding of a vegetal material inside the testis is outstanding. In our knowledge we don't know about another similar case. Pathologic aspects, including granulomatous reaction, regarding arguments of testicular atrophy and the foreign body eruption mechanism are discussed. The handling of the scrotum by paramedical people could justify his presence.
