BACKGROUND: Pyogenic granulomas are benign vascular lesions of the skin or mucous membranes. Oral lesions are believed to occur in up to 2% of pregnancies. To the best of our knowledge, non-oral lesions in pregnancy have not been reported in the obstetric literature.
CASES: We report two cases of non-oral pyogenic granuloma in pregnancy. The first, involving a finger lesion in a woman with triplets, demonstrated rapid growth and recurred after surgical excision. The second was an inguinal crease lesion, which was excised successfully after becoming symptomatic.
CONCLUSION: Clinical experienc

A 27-year-old male patient had recurrent pyogenic granuloma with satellitosis. Histologically, Warthin-Starry staining of the lesions revealed clumps of dark bacilli as found in patients with bacillary angiomatosis. IgG antibodies against Bartonella (Rochalimaea) henselae were elevated as shown by an indirect immunofluorescence assay. The patient did not present an obvious risk for HIV infection or immunosuppression, and no antibodies against HIV-1 and HIV-2 were found. Recurrent pyogenic granuloma with satellitosis may be a localized variant of bacillary angiomatosis.

An unusual complication of papaverine injection therapy is reported. A pyogenic granuloma formed after a single test dose of papaverine. Diagnosis, therapy and course of the patient are outlined.

IMPORTANCE: Cutaneous pyogenic granulomas (PGs) are commonly encountered, benign, vascular tumors, in which epidemiologic factors have been variably reported, in part, due to sample size limitations and a focus on either adult or pediatric patients.
OBJECTIVE: To assemble a large dataset of pathologically diagnosed PGs across the continuum of age and investigate patterns of PGs by demographic factors, including age, sex, and anatomical location.
DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS: This retrospective case series included case reports of patients with pathologically confirmed PGs of cutaneous o

Pyogenic granuloma is an inflammatory non-neoplastic lesion of the oral cavity. Chronic, mild, local irritation, trauma, hormonal variables, and certain medications are typical causes of pyogenic granulomas. Women have a higher prevalence than men. The risk is greatest in the second to fifth decades of life. Clinically, the lesion appears smooth, with soft to firm consistency and nontender with a pedunculated or sessile base. Various modalities have been proposed for the treatment of lesion, which include the conventional approach, the use of laser, cryotherapy, and electrocauterization. This

Pyogenic granuloma is a reactive lesion that is commonly seen in the skin and oral cavity. Though it is an unfortunate misnomer, being neither pyogenic nor a true granuloma, the name has been used for years. In the oral cavity, it presents as a growth mostly situated on the gingiva, but may also occur on the tongue, buccal and labial mucosa, and palate, and may even be seen in relation to dental implants. The lesion is usually bright or purple red in color, soft in consistency, relatively painless, and appears highly vascularized. Local etiologic factors are usually poor oral hygiene or chroni

INTRODUCTION: Oral pyogenic granulomas (PGs) presenting in association with dental implants are uncommon occurrences. While tooth-associated PGs are well-documented in the literature, there are only seven case reports with biopsy-confirmed diagnoses of PG related to dental implants. This case report details the treatment of an intraoral PG related to dental implants that had been osseointegrated and asymptomatic for 10 years.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 39-year-old female presented with a hyperplastic erythematous mass that encompassed the dental implants in the position of the maxillary central inc

Salt is an inexpensive, widely available substance that has few treatment side effects, apart from a mild stinging sensation that resolves after topical application. Salt has proven to be an effective treatment for pyogenic granulomas in children and leads to rapid lesion resolution without recurrence. We report a case of a young girl in whom salt is used as a treatment for a partially excised pyogenic granuloma, with complete lesion resolution.

BACKGROUND: Pyogenic granuloma (PG) is a lesion characterized by the proliferation of blood vessels, commonly affecting the skin and the mouth. We aimed to compare clinical, microscopic, and immunohistochemical features of the two types of oral PG: lobular capillary hemangioma (LCH) and non-LCH (NLCH).
METHODS: Epidemiological and clinical data from 2000 to 2018 were collected from the archives of our institution, and histopathological sections of PG were reviewed. Immunohistochemical analyses (CD34, D2-40, SMA, mast cell, and Ki-67) were performed in 34 cases.
RESULTS: Sixty-two LCH and 107

INTRODUCTION: Subungual pyogenic granuloma (PG) can be caused by numerous medications including chemotherapeutic agents. These lesions grow rapidly, oftentimes causing significant pain and bleeding, prompting patients to seek treatment. The management of subungual PG ranges from topical steroids to surgical excision. However, patients with chemotherapy-induced PGs are prone to developing multiple or recurrent lesions. Therefore, finding a therapeutic option that effectively eliminates the tumor and prevents the need for repeated procedural interventions is important. The use of topical β-adren

A 52-year-old man presented with a rapidly growing red tumor on the central neckline. It had appeared over a congenital flat and pinkish vascular lesion that involved the shoulder and the upper anterior area of his chest. Intermingled with the pinkish stain, there were also some blue nodules several millimeters in diameter. Histopathologic examination revealed that the full lesion was a mixed venous-capillary malformation. The red tumor was excised and diagnosed as a pyogenic granuloma developing over the venous component of the vascular malformation. To our knowledge, a pyogenic granuloma gro

Oral surgery to remove pyogenic granuloma in a high-risk patient is reported. A 47-year-old man with gastroesophageal reflux disease, diabetes mellitus II, dyslipidemia, and chronic coronary insufficiency (myocardial infarction within 2 years) with episodes of unstable angina was submitted to an excisional biopsy of hemorrhagic lesion in the lingual right mandibular gingiva. During dental treatment, the arterial blood pressure, oxygen saturation, heart rate, and electrocardiogram were monitored. Local anesthesia was performed with 0.45 ml of 3% prilocaine with 0.03 IU/ml felypressin. The antic

PURPOSE: The features of a pregnant womanwith pyogenic granuloma and bullous impetigoconcurrently present in a lesion on her finger aredescribed.
METHODS: PubMed was used to search the followingterms: bullous impetigo, pregnancy, and pyogenicgranuloma. All papers were reviewed; relevantarticles, along with their references, were evaluatedRes
