During i.v. infusion of rose bengal (48 mg/kg/h), the proximal portion of the rat left coronary artery was illuminated from the outside of the myocardium by green light (540 nm) to produce a transluminal thrombus subsequent to endothelial damages. We report a visible-light-driven, chemoselective macrocyclization of peptides that converts linear vinyl precursors into cyclic products bearing an α-selenoketone motif. The transformation proceeds in aqueous medium under mild conditions using a substoichiometric photocatalyst and blue LED irradiation, delivering high yields (>90%). The method is operationally simple, green, and broadly applicable to peptide macrocyclization.

Two cases of acquired port-wine stain (APWS) at lower extremity were treated with hematoporphyrin monomethyl ether (HMME) and 532 nm LED green light-mediated photodynamic therapy (HMME-PDT). No serious adverse reactions were observed during or post-treatment period. Five-month follow-up showed significant reduction of red patches after a single HMME-PDT treatment in both cases.

PURPOSE: To determine current perceptions of doctors, nurses and parents for the colour of a neonatal vomit which should prompt an urgent surgical review.
METHODS: A voluntary scoping survey of parents/guardians of patients and non-surgical healthcare professionals was conducted with respondents asked to choose from 8 different selections in a colour swatch from pale yellow to dark green. A control group consisted of 13 paediatric surgeons. Data were analysed using the paired t test, Fishers exact test. A p value of < 0.05 was considered to be significant.

A two-step synthetic method to prepare a highly sensitive and selective chemosensor 5'-hydroxymethyl fluorescein (5'-HMF) is described herein.
