Modular Synthesis of Trifunctional Peptide-oligonucleotide Conjugates via Native Chemical Ligation.

INTRODUCTION: Unintended pregnancy among married women remains a great health burden in LMICs. Having successfully completed child birth, the World health organization guides that woman wait for not less than two to three years before attempting another pregnancy to reduce health risks for the mother and the baby. Whereas much is known about client related factors contributing to the low uptake of immediate postpartum family planning (IPPFP), little is known about health care workers (HCWs). This study sought to explore health workers' attitudes and perceptions toward IPPFP at Soroti Regional

Using the CFIR 2.0 Framework to Assess the Implementation of GARDE: A Population Health Management Tool for Hereditary Cancer Risk.

BACKGROUND: Identifying individuals at increased hereditary cancer risk remains challenging in primary care settings due to limited time with providers, low self-efficacy in family history collection, and evolving referral guidelines. Genetic Cancer Risk Detector (GARDE), a population-level open-source software platform, uses electronic health record (EHR)-based family history data and automated patient outreach tools to identify and engage individuals who meet criteria for genetic testing. To better understand how such tools can be integrated into diverse health systems, this study applied th

Essential competencies of Chief Wellness executives in higher education.

The evolving landscape of health and well-being in higher education has underscored the critical need for strategic leadership roles, such as Chief Wellness/Well-being Officers (CWOs/CWBOs), to promote campus-wide resilience and holistic health. In response to the growing complexity of institutional wellness efforts following the COVID-19 pandemic, the American College Health Association's Health and Well-being Executive Leaders (HWEL) Section conducted a national needs assessment to identify essential competencies, and development priorities for wellness executives. With input from over 60% o

"The start of something that I hope could be greater": Health information technology tools for social care.

Federal policies and professional guidelines in the United States increasingly encourage and incentivize health systems to collect and meaningfully respond to patients' social risks. In response, many health systems employ health information technology to implement, standardize, and scale these social care activities. We created and evaluated electronic health record tools to support the collection and documentation of social risk information, and the integration of this information into clinical decision-making; the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine labels these activi

The role of a clinical nurse consultant dementia specialist: A qualitative evaluation.

Delay in diagnosis and difficulties in accessing appropriate health care services plague dementia care delivery in the community setting, potentiating the risk for misdiagnosis, inappropriate management, poor psychological adjustment and reduced coping capacity and ability to forward plan. We evaluated a clinical nurse consultant role with a speciality in dementia to provide person-centred pre-diagnosis support in the community. Clients, with a six-month history of cognitive and functional decline in the absence of delirium but no formal diagnosis of dementia, were recruited from a Home Care N

Lessons Learned from Emergency Response Vaccination Efforts for Cholera, Typhoid, Yellow Fever, and Ebola.

Countries must be prepared to respond to public health threats associated with emergencies, such as natural disasters, sociopolitical conflicts, or uncontrolled disease outbreaks. Rapid vaccination of populations vulnerable to epidemic-prone vaccine-preventable diseases is a major component of emergency response. Emergency vaccination planning presents challenges, including how to predict resource needs, expand vaccine availability during global shortages, and address regulatory barriers to deliver new products. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention supports countries to plan, impl

The influence of gender attitudes on contraceptive use in Tanzania: new evidence using husbands' and wives' survey data.

This paper explores the hypothesis that gender attitude scales (which measure the degree of equity in gender attitudes) are associated with contraceptive use. Four hundred male and female respondents (200 couples) were interviewed using a pre-tested, structured questionnaire. Analyses included comparisons of means and prevalence rates on gender equity indicators, other related factors and socio-demographic characteristics; t-tests to compare mean scores on each gender scale for wives and husbands to identify any significant differences; chi-squared tests to compare associations between individ

Displacement and kidney care disruption in Sudan: lessons from a fragile health crisis.

PURPOSE OF REVIEW: To examine the disruption of kidney care services in Sudan following the 2023 conflict, highlighting the compounded risks faced by dialysis and transplant patients during crises, and offering evidence-based strategies for future emergency preparedness. RECENT FINDINGS: The conflict in Sudan exposed deep systemic weaknesses in an already under-resourced nephrology infrastructure. Hemodialysis centers were damaged or shut down, supply chains collapsed, and patient displacement became widespread. Over 70% of patients experienced treatment interruption and many died due to miss

Policies and initiatives to facilitate timely discharge from hospitals: a comparison of six European countries.

BACKGROUND: Timely discharge of patients who are clinically ready to be discharged from hospitals to the next point of care is a common health system challenge. Ensuring safe and effective discharge holds new urgency, given the backlogs and increased waiting times for inpatient services in many countries after the COVID-19 pandemic. OBJECTIVE: The study aimed to identify policy options for addressing delayed discharges in six European countries (Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden), and to summarise available evidence on their effectiveness. METHODS: Experts from th

Evaluating the Implementation of Automated Malaria Rapid Diagnostic Test Readers in Health Facilities in the Democratic Republic of Congo: Process, Challenges, and Lessons Learned.

The WHO's Global Technical Strategy for malaria emphasizes the importance of reliable malaria surveillance systems to track disease burden and measure progress. A key indicator, the test positivity rate (TPR), largely depends on healthcare providers' adherence to rapid diagnostic test (RDT) results and their accurate reporting. To minimize healthcare providers' bias, this study explored the feasibility of using artificial intelligence (AI)-driven Deki Reader devices in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The devices were deployed in 144 health facilities across Haut Katanga, Kasai Central, and S
