Liver biopsies from 27 patients were studied by the indirect immunofluorescence and immunoperoxidase technique for relative distribution of B cells and T-cell subpopulations. In the present study, a trial was made to evaluate the monoclonal antibody produced as a tool in the detection of circulating antigen. For the preparation of monoclonal antibodies, four Balb/C mice were immunized with Trichinella spiralis larvae. Research on chemokines in cattle is hampered by the relative lack of validated reagents. Bovine IP-10 is an important inflammatory chemokine and a promising diagnostic biomarker for an economically important disease (bovine tuberculosis) caused by infection of cattle with Mycobacterium bovis. Six monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) against Moraxella bovis GF 9 were used to quantify haemagglutinating adhesins of 16 strains of this organism. The amount of each MAb necessary to inhibit one haemagglutinating unit of each strain varied between 4 and 0.007 times that required by strain GF 9. Five strains reacted with six MAbs, one with five, two with four, one with three, two with two and three with none. The procedures used enabled to detect dominant strains candidates for vaccines.

Cells from the B lymphoblastoid cell line Raji (Burkitt lymphoma) and from the myeloid-erythroid cell line K562 (subline AB5), stained by two different fluorochromes, were fused in vitro by means of PEG. Using the hybridoma technique, monoclonal antibodies (Mabs) have been produced against three different types of human salivary proteins: high molecular weight mucin, a 20 kD glycoprotein and a 14 kD protein, identified as a member of the cystatin family.
