Ultrasonography can detect ovarian endometriomas, but negative findings cannot exclude other localizations of endometriosis, especially in symptomatic patients. A rare case of leiomyoma of the ureter in a patient with type 1 multiple endocrine neoplasia (MEN) is reported. The case is of a Japanese man in his forties who had a past history of parathyroid gland hyperplasia, pancreatic islet cell tumors, and bilateral adrenocortical nodular hyperplasia. Imperforate hymen is a rare diagnosis to make in the emergency department and important to treat immediately. Hydronephrosis is a known but rare complication of an imperforate hymen. We present the case of a premenstrual adolescent with an undiagnosed imperforate hymen complaining of increasing abdominal pain. The article discusses the history, physical examination, evaluation, differential diagnosis, ultrasound findings, complications, and prompt surgical treatment necessary.

The effect of unilateral hydronephrosis (U-HN) on chemical tumorigenesis by two im injections of N-nitrosodimethylamine (DMN; CAS: 62-75-9) with the use of inbred female W rats was studied. Nephrolithiasis is a rare complication of renal transplantation. Patients with an obstructing calculus in a renal allograft often lack the usual renal colic symptoms, and therefore present with atypical symptoms. Treatment of obstructing calculi is imperative to prevent renal allograft failure and other complications. We report the case of a 46-year-old man who presented 28 years after renal transplant with renal failure and massive hydronephrosis secondary to an obstructing calculus.

A 57-year-old African American male presented with vague abdominal pain and bilateral flank pain. The patient was found to have bilateral hydronephrosis and significant renal function impairment secondary to pelvic lipomatosis. Pelvic lipomatosis represents a clinically-diagnosed unique cause of ureteral obstruction and subsequent renal impairment. We present a case report of newly diagnosed pelvic lipomatosis, the clinical and imaging characteristics for diagnosis, and its conservative management with serial ureteral stent exchanges.
