The objective of this study is analysis of stability and antioxidant and antiradical activities of the gossypol derivative - megosin conjugated with N-polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP). The results of study have shown the greater stability of megosin+PVP than megosin in aqueous solution of wide range of pH. Here we also demonstrated that megosin+PVP, named rometin, possess high antioxidant activity in the same range as well known antioxidant trolox as determined by its ability to scavenge free ABTS(+) and DPPH radicals in vitro. Standard techniques for immobilization of a tibia shaft fracture in the emergency department in a long-leg splint can be cumbersome, technically difficult, and often requires the use of an assistant. Phenol, like many other organic solvents, is toxic to micro-organisms even at low concentrations. However, some micro-organisms can withstand this toxicity to a certain concentration. To observe the uptake mechanism of phenol, bacteria were isolated from a petroleum refinery effluent and identified. Vocal fold paralysis as a result of a thyroid abscess is extremely rare. In this article, we report only the second documented case of such a finding. The paralysis was discovered after our patient, a 40-year-old woman, had come to the office with a complaint of discomfort in the right lower neck. Computed tomography confirmed the presence of an abscess in the posterior thyroid gland. Fine-needle aspiration did not identify any inflammatory or suspicious cells. The abscess was treated with hemithyroidectomy, and the paralysis resolved 3 weeks later. There has been no recurrence after 4 years.

In a prospective study we examined 60 patients with lower limb injuries preoperatively, every 2nd day after operation, and at 6 and 12 weeks after trauma with the Doppler and Duplex methods. We distinguished between patients with an above-knee plaster and those with a below-knee plaster after operation. Although few trauma patients sustain fatal pulmonary embolism, a large population is at risk from nonfatal embolism due to unrecognized deep vein thrombosis (DVT). Hydrolysis of L- and D-O-phosphothreonines catalyzed by four different phosphatases, alkaline phosphatases from calf intestine and E. coli and acid phosphatases from wheat germ and potato, has been kinetically studied.
