Metastasis is one of the main causes of mortality in cancer patients. Inotilone, a major component of Inonotus linteus, is a traditional Chinese medical herb. The clinical behavior of giant cell tumors (GCTs) is unpredictable. To gain insight into this tumor's biological behavior, matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases (TIMPs) were studied. BACKGROUND: Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) likely have an important role in the pathophysiology of acute lung injury. In a recent study, high matrix metalloproteinases (MMP-8) levels in tracheal aspirates of pediatric acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) patients were associated with worse outcome.
