Described in the paper are the results of treatment of epicondylitis humeri by local injections of Depo Medrol. Thirty hard working subjects (28 men and 2 women) have been controlled to check efficiency of the treatment. Good and very good results have been obtained in 87% of cases. The author shares the view enhanced in literature, that no more than 4-5 injections of Depo Medrol should be applied. If those injections are ineffective, and other possible reasons for the disease have been excluded and other methods of conservative treatment--exhausted the author suggests the operative treatment.

The purpose of this test was to establish the relative response of Du Pont Pro-Tek C-20 SO2 air monitoring badges with NIOSH Physical and Chemical Analytical Methods (P&CAM S308 and 160) in field tests at a steel mill blast furnace area during normal slag release operations. No significant difference was found at the 95% confidence level between the badges and P&CAM S308. The correlation coefficient between the badges and P&CAM S308 was 0.996. The prevalence of lead induced subjective symptoms was evaluated by a standardised questionnaire in a group of 96 workers employed between nine and 45 years in a secondary lead smelting works. A control group of 96 non-lead exposed subjects, matched for age and sex, were chosen from the Glostrup population study. In comparing the smelter with the mine, concentrator, and State of Utah, it was found that they were very similar in the percentage of deaths due to all causes except lung cancer; 7.0% of all deaths at the smelter were due to lung cancer compared to 2.2% for the mine, 2.2% for the concentrator, and 2.7% for the state. 5(18.5%) of a group 27 coppersmiths exposed to cadmium fume had stone disease. When compared with a control group of assembly workers in the same factory they had evidence of renal impairment as shown by blood biochemistry and proteinuria. A greater tendency to liver damage was found in the coppersmiths. There was evidence that restrictive airways disease was more common in the coppersmiths than in the control group. Blood-cadmium concentrations were significantly higher in the coppersmiths and in the assembly workers than in a reference population.

METHODS: In this cross-sectional study 185 metalworkers (154 production workers and 31 office staff) filled an interviewer-administered questionnaire. Patch testing was performed in 135 metalworkers and office staff, as a control group.

The Loskop Dam in South Africa is the most contaminated waterbody in the Olifants River which is a transboundary river that flows into Mozambique.
