Bone tumors, including primary bone tumors, invasive bone tumors, metastatic bone tumors, and others, are one of the most clinical difficulties in orthopedics. Once these tumors have grown and developed in the bone system, they will interact with osteocytes and other environmental cells in the bone system's microenvironment, leading to the eventual damage of the bone's physical structure. Surgical procedures for bone tumors may result in permanent defects. The dual-efficacy of tissue regeneration and tumor treatment has made biomaterial scaffolds frequently used in treating bone tumors. 3D pri

Dermoid cysts are rare benign intracranial neoplasms derived from embryonal remnant tissues. Here, we describe a case of dermoid cyst located in the right frontal lobe, which showed repeated changes on CT. An 11-year-old girl was referred to our hospital to treat a brain neoplasm. Brain CT and MRI revealed a cystic tumor in the right frontal lobe. Incidentally, brain CT had been performed 6, 2, and 1 year before the presentation, which demonstrated repeated changes in the tumor over the clinical course. Gross total resection of the tumor was achieved through right frontal craniotomy. Histologi

INTRODUCTION: Malignant struma ovarii is a rare ovarian neoplasm composed predominantly of mature thyroid tissue.
CASE REPORT: A right ovarian tumor was discovered at ultrasound examination in a 20-year-old woman. Complete right ovariectomy was done - histopathological examination revealed papillary thyroid carcinoma arising in struma ovarii (malignant struma ovarii). Patient underwent subsequent total thyroidectomy - the thyroid was found to be without any pathological lesions. After operations the patient received ablative radioiodine treatment (200 mCi 131I). An 131I posttherapeutic whole-

Sonography and computed tomography play complementary roles in imaging mass lesions in the salivary glands and their surroundings. Ninety per cent of parotid tumors originate from the superficial lobe, and we consider sonography to be the method of choice for imaging these lesions. The sensitivity of high-resolution sonography in detecting intraparotid tumors approaches 100 per cent, and ultrasound is therefore an excellent method to evaluate patients with parotid swelling. It may provide clinically useful information by precisely outlining the tumor borders or by detecting multiple or bilater

Two unusual carcinomas of the breast are described, containing nests of infiltrating neoplasm situated within stromal lacunar spaces, and surrounded by numerous benign appearing multinucleated giant cells. Within the stroma, there was extensive hemorrhage, hemosiderin pigment deposition, and large numbers of mononucleated inflammatory cells. The morphology of both tumors resembled the giant cell tumor of bone. Although a similar giant cell reaction has recently been described in association with a uterine leiomyosarcoma, we are aware of only two other examples of this entity in the breast, bot

SETBP1 mutations are found in various clonal myeloid disorders. However, it is unclear whether they can initiate leukemia, because SETBP1 mutations typically appear as later events during oncogenesis. To answer this question, we generated a mouse model expressing mutated SETBP1 in hematopoietic tissue: this model showed profound alterations in the differentiation program of hematopoietic progenitors and developed a myeloid neoplasm with megakaryocytic dysplasia, splenomegaly, and bone marrow fibrosis, prompting us to investigate SETBP1 mutations in a cohort of 36 triple-negative primary myelof

Alveolar soft part sarcoma is a rare neoplasm of uncertain histogenesis that belongs to a newly defined category of ultra-rare sarcomas. The neoplasm is characterized by a specific chromosomal translocation, der (17) t(X; 17)(p11.2;q25), that results in ASPSCR1-TFE3 gene fusion. The natural history of alveolar soft part sarcoma describes indolent behaviour with slow progression in deep soft tissues of the extremities, trunk and head/neck in adolescents and young adults. A high rate of detection of distant metastasis at presentation has been reported, and the most common metastatic sites in dec

The radiographic appearance of Ewing's sarcoma was studied retrospectively in 22 patients who survived 5 years or longer after diagnosis and treatment. Expected changes from treatment, including regression of the extraosseous soft tissue mass, periostitis, and reconstitution of the cortex, occurred in all patients. Local recurrence occurred in one patient 10 years after complete remission whereas secondary osteosarcoma occurred more than 5 years after complete remission in two other cases. Both recurrent and secondary tumors presented as new lytic foci at the site of the original primary lesio

Natural killer (NK) cell neoplasms are a group of rare but highly malignant tumors. We report here one case of NK cell leukemia. A 54-yr-old woman presented with a 2-month history of progressive left neck mass. Based on the positive result of tissue PCR for Mycobacterium tuberculosis, she was at first diagnosed with tuberculous lymphadenopathy. After two weeks, she developed generalized lymphadenopathy, hepatosplenomegaly, fever and anemia. Subsequent evaluation was performed including bone marrow aspiration and biopsy. Peripheral blood smear showed leukoerythroblastic features with 31% blasts

Endocrine tumors are neoplasms originating from specialized hormone-secreting cells. They can develop as sporadic tumors, caused by somatic mutations, or in the context of familial Mendelian inherited diseases. Congenital forms, manifesting as syndromic or non-syndromic diseases, are caused by germinal heterozygote autosomal dominant mutations in oncogenes or tumor suppressor genes. The genetic defect leads to a loss of cell growth control in target endocrine tissues and to tumor development. In addition to the classical cancer manifestations, some affected patients can manifest alterations of

Synovial sarcoma is a soft tissue tumor of uncertain origin. Generally, it is a monophasic spindle cell neoplasm that can have glandular-like structures. Ossification and presence of calcification is a rare phenomenon with only a few reported cases. We present the case of a young male with a synovial sarcoma of the right foot. Histology revealed prominent deposits of tumoral osteoid and coarse calcifications. The diagnosis was confirmed by the expression of SS18 by immunohistochemistry and the demonstration of the rearrangement of the SS18 gene by fluorescent in situ hybridization. We reviewed

Solitary plasmacytoma (SP) is characterized by an accumulation of neoplastic monoclonal plasma cells in a localized fashion, without evidence of multiple myeloma. It makes up <5% of all plasma cell neoplasms and is typically found in regions like the pelvis, ribs, vertebra, and spine. SP is classified into extramedullary plasmacytoma (EMP), which primarily affects soft tissues, and solitary bone plasmacytoma (SBP), which primarily affects the pelvis, ribs, vertebrae, and spine. We report a case of a 66-year-old man with sternal plasmacytoma presenting as chest pain. He was treated with radiati

Inflammatory pseudotumor (IPT) is a benign lesion of inflammatory origin that can mimic a malignant neoplasm because of its aggressive clinical and imaging behavior, particularly in uncommon locations such as the paranasal sinuses. In this article, we present the case of a patient diagnosed with IPT of the left maxillary sinus, which demonstrated extension into adjacent soft tissues and secondary involvement of cranial nerves due to extensive local invasion. Findings on computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed bone destruction and extension into neighboring anatom

Odontoma is a benign odontogenic tumour, which is rather considered hamartoma. Hamartoma is not a true neoplasm, rather a growth of abnormal mixture of cells found in the body area they normally grows. Fully developed odontomas generally consist of enamel, dentin and pulpal tissues, in an unorganised manner. Some of them may contain cementum too. These are further grouped into compound and complex, depending on their clinical, radiographic and histologic features. Odontomas are generally asymptomatic and slow growing, but may cause bone expansion and hinderance in tooth eruption. These lesions
