The Clinical Stabilization Framework (CSF): A Conceptual Model for Forensic Nursing Clinical Reasoning During Alcohol Withdrawal in Custody.

BACKGROUND: Alcohol withdrawal is a common and potentially life-threatening presentation in custodial health care. Although structured assessment tools and evidence-based pharmacological interventions remain essential, they offer limited conceptual guidance on how forensic nurses integrate biological, psychological, pharmacological, relational, and environmental information during periods of acute instability. AIM: To introduce the Clinical Stabilization Framework (CSF) as a conceptual model supporting forensic nursing clinical reasoning during alcohol withdrawal in custody. METHODS: Synthes

Integrating Citizen Science into Advanced Practice Nursing education: a contemporary challenge.

Advanced Practice Nursing is internationally recognised as an innovative model of practice that expands the traditional scope of nursing by integrating specialised knowledge, advanced clinical skills, and greater autonomy in clinical decision-making. Within this model, research competence is recognised as a strategic pillar for consolidating Advanced Practice Nursing practice. Citizen Science, in turn, represents an innovative approach that promotes the active involvement of citizens throughout the research process, strengthening the alignment between research priorities and community needs. Nursing Students' Understandings of Mental Health: Illuminating the Structure of Awareness Using Phenomenographic Analysis.

BACKGROUND: Variation in how nursing students conceptualise mental health (MH) has significant implications for curriculum design and patient care. While phenomenography is well-established for mapping such variation, clarity on how variations are derived is often lacking. Marton and Booth's (1997) structure of awareness (SoA) framework provides a method for sophisticated analysis of a concept and, in this study, was employed to derive the components and configuration of students' awareness. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to illustrate and advance the application of the SoA framework in phenomen

HPV vaccination willingness and behavior among nursing female students in China based on the protection motivation theory: A cross-sectional study.

Female nursing students show high intention yet low uptake of HPV vaccination, which undermines cervical cancer prevention efforts. To examine the mechanisms influencing their vaccination behavior, this study developed and validated an intention-behavior transition model based on Protection Motivation Theory, thereby providing a theoretical foundation for designing targeted interventions and improving vaccination coverage. A total of 631 female nursing students from universities in Wuhan were selected by the convenience sampling method and were surveyed using a General Information Questionnair

Rumination and Loneliness Independently Predict Six-Month Later Depression Symptoms among Chinese Elderly in Nursing Homes.

BACKGROUND: Previous studies conducted in Western countries independently demonstrated that loneliness and rumination are remarkable risk factors of depression among the elderly in both community and nursing homes. However, knowledge on the relationship between these three constructs among the elderly in Eastern countries is scarce. The current study aims to determine the relationship between loneliness, rumination, and depression among Chinese elderly in nursing homes. METHODS: A total of 71 elderly participants with an average age of 82.49 years completed this six-month longitudinal study.

Self-administered blood donor medical history.

An experiment in self-administered blood donor medical histories is described. This history, reviewed by a medical history nurse, was not associated with more rapid donor processing. Donors and medical history nurses reacted positively to self-administration. The quality of the medical history did not appear to be affected by the procedure. The findings suggest that there is value in the self-administration process, and that further trial is warranted.

The effect of peer-assisted learning on medication error occurrence among undergraduate nursing students: A randomized controlled trial.

BACKGROUND: Medication administration is one of the most sensitive duties of nurses and an essential part of the treatment and care process. Nursing students are more likely to make medication errors because of their inexperience and lack of ability. The importance of clinical education using modern approaches is undeniable. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of peer-assisted learning on medication error occurrence among undergraduate nursing students. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This study is a randomized controlled trial, conducted in 2023-24, involving 50 fourth-semester undergr

Caring for Patients With Injection Drug Use-Associated Infective Endocarditis at the End of Life: A Modified Photo-Elicitation Phenomenological Study.

Admissions for patients with injection drug use-associated infective endocarditis are increasing. Injection drug use-associated infective endocarditis is a serious and often fatal cardiac infection. Nurses are often frustrated when caring for these patients because these care assignments are physically and emotionally demanding. Nurses feel helpless, as they disposition young patients to a funeral homes, morgue, or hospice, or send them home to die, and yet a dearth of information regarding end-of-life care for injection drug use-associated infective endocarditis patients remains. This study e

Nursing practice in cancer treatment decision making among older adults: A scoping review on behalf of the International Society of Geriatric Oncology Nursing, Allied Health, and Scientists Interest Group.

INTRODUCTION: Cancer treatment decision making (CTDM) presents important challenges among older adults due to variation in health and functional status, presence of comorbidities, differing goals/values, quality and quantity of life considerations, and limited inclusion in clinical trials. Nursing standards and guidelines call for competence in supporting CTDM and nurses advocate for greater involvement. However, clear understanding of the existing evidence to inform nursing practice is lacking. We aimed to map and synthesize evidence that provides insight into nursing practice in CTDM among o

[Nursing interventions for patients with sickle cell during pain crisis].

Sickle cell is the most common genetic disease in Brazil. Its complications result in out of control painful crisis. In considering this context, this article aimed at evidencing what nursing actions or interventions can be carried out to minimize those patients' pain. A bibliographic research was carried out in LILACS, BDENf and SciELO databases. Findings demonstrated that it is necessary for the nurse to have enough knowledge about physiologic process of pain as well as the crisis' unchained factors. The acting of nursing professional aims to move away those unchaining factors, the orientati

[The Experience of Caring for a Child Suffering From Incontinent Dermatitis].

This paper describes the experience of caring for a child with incontinent dermatitis that was caused by improper family care. Anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa: chronic conditions affecting pregnancy.

Anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa primarily affect women who are in the childbearing years. While many anorectic patients are unable to ovulate second to the disruptions of normal body function associated with anorexia, there are still women who will ovulate and become pregnant. Bulimia nervosa may also disrupt the normal menstrual cycle if the disease is very severe. However, many bulimic patients will become pregnant. Both of these disease states cause a decrease in circulating plasma volume, fluid and electrolyte shifts, and other alterations that may increase the risk to a pregnancy and
