Pharmacy Distribution of Advice, Symptomatic Treatment and Antimicrobial Drugs to Patients with Cough.

It is an accepted fact that, in many countries, pharmacies are the predominant source of medical advice over-the-counter drugs, and supplies of "prescription-only" drugs for sale without a prescription. To assess the activities conducted by pharmacists or pharmacy counter assistants in response to a common health problem, a cross-sectional study was done at 114 pharmacies in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Language barriers in Canadian pharmacies: A review of interpretation services and health equity gaps in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Despite the Canada Health Act's emphasis on "reasonable access" to care, many newcomer patients for whom English is a second language face communication barriers when seeking medical treatment in Canada. This barrier is especially prevalent in Canadian pharmacies, where interpretation services are often limited or non-existent. Missed Opportunities in Engaging Community Pharmacies for Integrated Tuberculosis Care in Sub-Saharan Africa: A Call to Action.

Tuberculosis (TB) remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in sub-Saharan Africa. Community pharmacies, which are often the first point of contact for people with TB, are underutilized in expanding TB care. Engaging community pharmacies in TB care could facilitate personalized adherence counseling, the timely detection and reporting of medication side effects, and the integration of TB and HIV services for individuals with both TB and HIV. Pharmacies can reduce stigma and address social and psychological barriers by offering person-centered care in convenient, accessible settings, in…
