Soybean (Glycine max L.) is a good source of natural antioxidants and commonly consumed as fermented products such as cheonggukjang, miso, tempeh, and sufu in Asian countries. The aim of the current study was to examine the influence of novel endophytic bacterial strain, Bacillus amyloliquefaciens RWL-1 as a starter for soybean fermentation. BACKGROUND: Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are synthetic chemicals used in manufacturing that resist environmental degradation, can leach into drinking water, and bioaccumulate in tissues. Some studies have shown associations with negative health outcomes. In May 2014, a New Hampshire public drinking water supply was found to be contaminated with PFAS from a former U.S. Air Force base.

Cigarette filters were utilized as carbon source for the production of solid carbon acid catalysts. In this study, the process of carbonization and simultaneous sulfonation via hydrothermal treatment was employed. The catalysts were prepared by mixing cigarette filters and sulfuric acid at temperatures of 100, 150, and 190 °C for durations ranging from 2 to 8 h. In clustering-triggered emission systems, molecules generally form clusters of various sizes, making it difficult to rationally design materials that emit a desired phosphorescence color. We achieved rational tuning of ultralong room-temperature phosphorescence (URTP) color by hybridizing polystyrene sulfonic acid (PSS), which is a URTP material, with a silica network at varying mixing ratios. The results demonstrate that nanoscale confinement reduces the PSS domain size and thereby controls its phosphorescence color.

A transition-metal-free arylation of lithium, magnesium, and zinc sulfinates with diaryliodonium salts is described. The sulfinic acid salts were prepared from the reaction of the corresponding organometallic reagents and sulfur dioxide. Combination of the three single steps (preparation of the organometallic compound, sulfinate formation, and arylation) leads to a one-pot sequence for the synthesis of aryl sulfones from simple starting materials. The chemoselectivity of unsymmetrical diaryliodonium salts has been investigated. Potential and limitations of this method will be discussed.
