Ecological momentary assessment of targeted and non-targeted symptom changes in clinical anxiety and irritability among children and adolescents receiving cognitive behavioral therapy.

BACKGROUND: Decades of youth psychotherapy research have demonstrated the efficacy of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) on targeted symptoms using standardized, retrospective clinician-, child-, and parent-report. Advancements in digital technologies can be leveraged to capture granular symptom change in patients' natural environments. While CBT is tailored to treat specific diagnosis-perpetuating mechanisms, it remains unknown whether such effects may carry over to non-targeted symptoms, which could have important treatment implications. METHODS: We examined targeted and non-targeted sympto

Health-related quality of life and symptom assessment in randomized controlled trials of patients with leukemia and myelodysplastic syndromes: What have we learned?

Health-related quality of life (HRQOL) and other patient-reported outcomes (PROs) are crucial for a comprehensive evaluation of treatment effectiveness. A systematic review of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) with a PRO endpoint conducted in patients with leukemia and myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) was performed. Eligible studies were evaluated independently, according to a pre-defined coding scheme, by two reviewers. Thirteen RCTs, enrolling overall 3380 patients were identified. There were four RCTs involving acute myeloid leukemia patients (AML), one with acute lymphoid leukemia (ALL),

Development of a novel patient-oriented tool to assess achalasia symptoms and response to treatment (I-PASS, International Patient-oriented tool for Achalasia Symptom Score).

Achalasia treatment outcomes are often assessed using the Eckardt score, which has not been formally validated and is not designed as a patient-reported outcome (PRO) tool. To address this unmet clinical need, a group of healthcare providers developed the International Patient-oriented tool for Achalasia Symptom Score (I-PASS), which aims to record both symptom severity and frequency in a patient-oriented manner. Using the RAND/ University of California, Los Angeles, Appropriateness Methodology, a 16-member international, multidisciplinary panel identified key symptomatic domains through three

Research protocol for the Paraesophageal hernia symptom tool, a prospective multi-center cohort study to identify the need and threshold for surgery and assess the symptom response to surgery.

Large hiatus hernias with a significant paraesophageal component (types II-IV) have a range of insidious symptoms. Management of symptomatic hernias includes conservative treatment or surgery. Currently, there is no paraesophageal hernia disease-specific symptom questionnaire. As a result, many clinicians rely on the health-related quality of life questionnaires designed for gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GORD) to assess patients with hiatal hernias pre- and postoperatively. In view of this, a paraesophageal hernia symptom tool (POST) was designed. This POST questionnaire now requires valid

Maintenance factors for eating disorder symptoms based on ecological momentary assessment studies: A systematic review.

Several prominent theories of eating disorders maintenance exist, with most corresponding to evidence-based treatments. Ecological momentary assessment (EMA) is ideal for testing relationships between proposed maintenance factors and eating disorder symptoms given its ability to examine antecedents and consequences. A seminal systematic review and meta-analysis of EMA studies on affect and binge eating was published in 2011, but the literature since this time and beyond these variables has not been synthesized. We searched PsycINFO, MEDLINE, and Scopus (last search December 16, 2025) for artic

Development and validation of the SuPr-10 questionnaire for suicidality assessment in primary care patients with depressive symptoms.

Suicidal ideation affects 10% of primary care patients. Although guidelines recommend screening, few tools are suitable for use in this setting, and protective factors are often overlooked. This study aimed to develop a brief questionnaire to assess suicidality in primary care. The Suicide Prevention for Primary Care Questionnaire (SuPr-10) was validated in 521 participants with a PHQ-9 score ≥ 6 across six subsamples. Its structure was analyzed using exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, item analysis, and psychometric evaluation. Diagnostic accuracy was assessed via logistic regressi

Multidimensional assessment of acne vulgaris: links between psychiatric symptoms, disordered eating, and dermatologic severity.

INTRODUCTION: Acne vulgaris is a common chronic inflammatory skin disease that extends beyond dermatologic symptoms to include psychosocial and behavioral consequences. Although the psychological impact of acne has been acknowledged, the interplay between psychiatric symptoms, eating behaviors, and quality of life remains underexplored. OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the associations between psychiatric symptoms, eating behavior patterns, and quality of life among patients with acne vulgaris compared to healthy controls. METHODS: This case-control study included 120 patients with acne vulgaris and

An ICF-based content analysis of the overlap between questionnaires assessing tinnitus distress and depressive symptoms.

INTRODUCTION: The experience of tinnitus varies considerably among individuals, particularly in terms of perceived distress. Psychological factors play a major role in this variability, and numerous studies have demonstrated a correlation between symptoms of depression and tinnitus distress. Both constructs are commonly assessed through self-report questionnaires. However, content overlap between these questionnaires can make it challenging to differentiate the constructs and interpret their relationship. Given the variation in content among questionnaires assessing tinnitus distress and depre

EndoFLIP Guided Assessment of Pyloric Distensibility Identifies Associations With Delayed Gastric Emptying and Symptoms of Gastroparesis.

BACKGROUND: Pyloric dysfunction assessed by EndoFLIP has been implicated in the pathogenesis of gastroparesis. However, the relationship between pyloric dysfunction, gastric emptying, and severity of gastroparesis symptoms remains unclear. AIM: Investigate the association of pyloric distensibility index (DI) and area under the curve (AUC) for a DI to volume curve with percent of gastric retention and severity of gastroparesis symptoms. METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed the electronic charts of 321 adult patients who underwent graded pyloric sphincter distension over a range of 30-70 mL ba

Assessment of PTSD and CPTSD Symptoms in Children and Adolescents Exposed to Earthquakes: An Evaluation Using Latent Profile.

This study aims to identify the profiles of post-traumatic symptoms observed in children and adolescents aged 7 to 17 who were traumatised by experiencing the February 6 earthquakes, which are referred to as the disaster of the century in Türkiye and were centred in Kahramanmaraş, and to reveal the extent to which these identified profiles differ in terms of post-traumatic cognitions, trauma-related safety behaviour, depression, anxiety and well-being. In this context, data were collected from 282 children and adolescents residing in the earthquake-affected areas and analysed using latent prof
