Background/Objectives: Distal biceps tendon rupture is a disabling injury that compromises elbow flexion and forearm supination strength, particularly in high-performance athletes. Although several fixation techniques have been proposed, no single method has proven optimal in combining mechanical stability, anatomical restoration, and early functional recovery. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy, safety, and reproducibility of a hybrid dual-fixation technique combining a Tightrope® cortical button (Arthrex, Naples, FL, USA) with a PEEK interference screw for anatomic reinsertion of the

Objective:The notion of a somatotopically organized motor cortex, with movements of different body parts being controlled by spatially distinct areas of cortex, is well known. However, recent studies have challenged this notion and suggested a more distributed representation of movement control. This shift in perspective has significant implications, particularly when considering the implantation location of electrode arrays for intracortical brain-computer interfaces (iBCIs). We sought to evaluate whether the location of neural recordings from the precentral gyrus, and thus the underlying som

BACKGROUND: Cubitus varus, a common complication of pediatric supracondylar humerus fractures, presents with internal rotation, extension, and varus angulation. While primarily considered a cosmetic concern, it can lead to significant complications, including chronic pain, ulnar nerve palsy, and posterolateral elbow instability. This study evaluates the effectiveness of supracondylar dome osteotomy in decreasing lateral condylar prominence and improving functional outcomes in patients with cubitus varus.
METHODS: This retrospective cohort study analyzed 65 patients under 18 who underwent dome

Missed Monteggia fractures in children may cause pain, deformity, decreased range of motion, neurological symptoms, and late arthritis of the elbow. Numerous surgical techniques have been advocated to reconstruct missed Monteggia lesions. The purpose of the present study were first to evaluate the clinical and radiographic outcomes after open reduction of the radial head and corrective osteotomy of the ulna, second to identify the factors associated with the preoperative radial notch/head appearance and the postoperative radiographic results. This study investigated the preoperative MRI presen

CONTEXT: Chronic tendinopathy is a challenging problem that can lead to significant disability and limitation in not only athletics but also activities of daily living. While there are many treatment techniques described for this overuse injury, no single modality has been proven superior to all others. With recent advances in medical technology, percutaneous ultrasonic tenotomy (PUT) for tendinosis has gained traction with promising results.
OBJECTIVE: To examine the data published on PUT for treatment of tendinopathy, analyze the outcomes of the procedure, including duration of pain relief

BACKGROUND: Although most cases of humeral shaft nonunion respond well to surgical intervention, surgeons still encounter patients with humeral shaft nonunion who have already undergone repeated surgeries for nonunion. This study retrospectively analyzed the efficacy of double locking compression plate (LCP) fixation in combination with autogenous iliac crest bone grafting for recalcitrant humeral shaft nonunion.
METHODS: A consecutive series of patients with aseptic recalcitrant humeral shaft nonunion underwent surgical treatment between May 2010 and August 2017 in our institution. Standardi

UNLABELLED: A pediatric patient presenting with an open forearm fracture with segmental defect is rare, and the pediatric orthopedic literature to guide treatment is sparse. There are several described methods to treat the defect, including bone grafting and bone transport techniques. In addition, there are reports of fibular regeneration after resection if the periosteum is left intact. We present a case report of complete regeneration of over half of a pediatric radial shaft with an intact periosteum, after traumatic extrusion from an open fracture. A 6-year-old girl presented with a Gustilo

Although it is much less common than injuries in the lower extremities, an upper extremity stress injury can have a significant impact on an athlete. If an accurate and timely diagnosis is to be made, the clinician must have a high index of suspicion of a stress fracture in any athlete who is involved in a throwing, weightlifting, or upper extremity weight-bearing sport and presents with chronic pain in the upper extremity. Imaging should play an integral role in the work-up of these patients; if initial radiographs are unrevealing, further cross-sectional imaging should be strongly considered
