PURPOSE: We evaluated midodrine as oral treatment for pharmacologically induced priapism in spinal cord injured patients.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: From 2004 to 2007 we treated 354 spinal cord injured patients with intracavernous injection of prostaglandin E1 to induce erection. Prolonged erection or priapism occurred in 14 cases (1.3% of intracavernous injections). High blood pressure and bradycardia (autonomic dysreflexia) were noted in 2 tetraplegic cases. Except in 2 patients oral midodrine was used as the only therapeutic approach to this event because of its alpha stimulant properties.

AIM: We determine the efficacy of unilateral nerve-sparing radical perineal prostatectomy in preserving the sexual function.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: Ninety-two patients with histologically confirmed unilateral prostate cancer were scheduled for contralateral nerve preservation. The perioperative morbidity was assessed using the patients' chart reviews. Metastatic prostate cancer is an uncurable disease. Treatment is only palliative. Median survival of patients is 3 years. The alpha-blocking agent Moxisylyte was tested in auto-intracavernous injections (auto-ICI) in 72 impotent patients. The side-effects were compared to those observed in a group of 34 impotent patients treated with auto-ICI of Papaverine during the same period of time.
