SZBC-AI4TCM: a comprehensive web-based computing platform for traditional Chinese medicine research and development.

INTRODUCTION: In recent years, the increasing complexity and volume of data in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) research have rendered the conventional experimental methods inadequate for modern TCM development. The analysis of intricate TCM data demands proficiency in multiple programming languages, artificial intelligence (AI) techniques, and bioinformatics, posing significant challenges for researchers lacking such expertise. Thus, there is an urgent need to develop user-friendly software tools that encompass various aspects of TCM data analysis. METHODS: We developed a comprehensive web

A Computable Phenotype for Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease.

BACKGROUND: A computable phenotype is an algorithm used to identify a group of patients within an electronic medical record system. Developing a computable phenotype that can accurately identify patients with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) will assist researchers in defining patients eligible to participate in clinical trials and other studies. Our objective was to assess the accuracy of a computable phenotype using International Classification of Diseases 9th and 10th revision (ICD-9/10) codes to identify patients with ADPKD. METHODS: We reviewed four random samples of

Three-dimensional computer-automated threshold Amsler grid test.

We describe a novel method for testing a visual field that employs a computer monitor with displays of varying contrast that permits unprecedented resolution and characterization of the structure of scotomas in three dimensions. Patients are placed in front of a touch-sensitive computer screen at a fixed distance. With one eye covered, they focus on a central fixation marker and trace with their finger the areas on an Amsler grid that are missing from their field of vision. Increasing degrees of contrast of the Amsler grid are simulated by repeating the test at different gray-scale levels. The

Patient-specific role-aware port planning for a bedside-distributed multi-arm surgical robot: simulation and phantom validation.

Preoperative port placement for multi-arm surgical robots must accommodate patient-dependent abdominal geometry, robot-specific remote-center-of-motion (RCM) constraints, and heterogeneous task requirements of instrument and endoscope arms. This study develops and physically evaluates a patient-specific, role-aware port-planning framework for a four-arm bedside-distributed surgical robot. Abdominal dimensions are extracted from three abdominal computed tomography (CT) volumes, and a case-specific planned lesion center is defined in each volume. These data are combined with literature-reported

MetAssist 2.0: A Generalizable Artificial Intelligence Framework for Lymph Node Metastasis Detection Across Multiple Cancer Types.

Lymph node metastasis assessment is critical for cancer staging, yet the process is labor intensive and prone to variability, particularly when evaluating micrometastases or isolated tumor cells that can directly alter treatment decisions. We present MetAssist 2.0, a modular artificial intelligence system that combines a pathology foundation model with transformer-based segmentation to automate metastasis detection across cancer types. Trained on colorectal and upper gastrointestinal cancers, it was validated on 8144 slides spanning 7 cancer types and 14 multi-institutional cohorts. MetAssist

Acoustic Frequency Comb-Based QPSK Demodulation Using Nonlinear MEMS Resonators.

This work demonstrates a microelectrome-chanical system (MEMS)-based phase shift keying (PSK) demodulator that leverages nonlinear resonators. In particular, this work employs an internal-resonating MEMS resonator that generates acoustic frequency combs. The spacing of these combs is dynamically modulated by a primary driving signal and an auxiliary signal that carries the phase-encoded information. The discrete variations in comb spacing serve as the demodulation metric, enabling accurate retrieval of the original phase-encoded data. This approach offers a feedforward demodulation structure,

Challenges and opportunities in type III secretion system effector prediction.

Type III secretion system effectors (T3SEs) are small bacterial proteins with big biological roles. They act as central molecular mediators of interactions between Gram-negative bacteria and eukaryotic hosts, spanning pathogenic, symbiotic and environmental contexts. Over the past three decades, T3SE discovery has progressed from genome-independent experimental assays to an expanding landscape of computational prediction methods. Early in silico approaches formalized empirically defined protein N-terminal properties into feature-engineered machine-learning models, followed by deep-learning met

Identification of key programmed cell death genes-necroptosis-related genes in systemic lupus erythematosus.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a heterogeneous autoimmune disease with challenging early diagnosis. Aberrant programmed cell death (PCD) is critical in SLE pathogenesis. This study aimed to identify key PCD genes for SLE diagnosis and disease activity assessment. Integrated bioinformatics analysis was conducted on three whole-blood transcriptomic datasets (GSE65391, GSE110174, GSE154851) from GEO. Machine learning algorithms (LASSO, SVM-RFE) identified hub genes across 18 PCD types. ssGSEA and logistic regression determined the predominant PCD pathway. Immune infiltration and correlatio

Innovative Hybrid CNN-Transformer Deep Learning Models For The Automated Diagnosis Of Monkeypox From Medical Images.

The visual appearance of monkey pox skin lesions remains poorly established due to their similarity to other vesicular and pustular skin diseases. This paper tested the hypothesis that a hybrid deep-learning model, integrated with convolutional and transformer-based feature encoders, can automatically classify mpox images within a unified experimental pipeline. To ensure consistency across models and reports, the main analysis was conducted as a binary task: mpox vs other conditions with the same or similar presentation. These benchmark data consisted of 2,280 images: 1,020 mpox and 1,260 non-

Influence of Anatomical Definition and Substrate Condition on Simulations of Atrial Arrhythmias.

INTRODUCTION: Personalized in silico models offer great potential for improving our understanding of atrial arrhythmia mechanisms and for testing therapeutic strategies. However, the level of complexity that can be achieved in these models is often limited by the availability of clinical data. Therefore, evaluating how variations in model detail affect electrophysiological simulation outcomes is essential for evaluating how accurate these models need to be. PURPOSE: To evaluate how substrate conditions (electrical remodeling and diffusion) and the inclusion of fiber orientation and ionic hete

Active microgel particle swarms for intrabronchial targeted delivery.

Intrabronchial delivery of therapeutic agents is critical to the treatment of respiratory diseases. Targeted delivery is demanded because of the off-target accumulation of drugs in normal lung tissues caused by inhalation and the limited motion dexterity of clinical bronchoscopes in tortuous bronchial trees. Herein, we developed microrobotic swarms consisting of magnetic hydrogel microparticles to achieve intrabronchial targeted delivery. Under programmed magnetic fields, the microgel particle swarms performed controllable locomotion and adaptative structure reconfiguration in tortuous and air
