Primary Stent Placement for Hepatic Artery Stenosis After Liver Transplantation: Improving Primary Patency and Reintervention Rates.

Recent studies have reported high rates of reintervention after primary stenting for hepatic artery stenosis (HAS) due to the loss of primary patency. The aims of this study were to evaluate the outcomes of primary stenting after HAS in a large cohort with longterm follow-up. After institutional review board approval, all patients undergoing liver transplantation between 2003 and 2017 at a single institution were evaluated for occurrence of hepatic artery complications. HAS occurred in 37/454 (8%) of patients. HAS was defined as >50% stenosis on computed tomography or digital subtraction angio

Stenting for symptomatic intracranial arterial stenosis in China: 1-year outcome of a multicentre registry study.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: A multicentre prospective registry study of individually tailored stenting for a patient with symptomatic intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis (ICAS) combined with poor collaterals in China showed that the short-term safety and efficacy of stenting was acceptable. However, it remained uncertain whether the low event rate could be of a long term. We reported the 1-year outcome of this registry study to evaluate the long-term efficacy of individually tailored stenting for patients with severe symptomatic ICAS combined with poor collaterals. METHODS: Patients with sympto

The Impact of Variational Primary Collaterals on Cerebral Autoregulation.

The influence of the anterior and posterior communicating artery (ACoA and PCoA) on dynamic cerebral autoregulation (dCA) is largely unknown. In this study, we aimed to test whether substantial differences in collateral anatomy were associated with differences in dCA in two common types of stenosis according to digital subtraction angiography (DSA): either isolated basal artery and/or bilateral vertebral arteries severe stenosis/occlusion (group 1; group 1A: with bilateral PCoAs; and group 1B: without bilateral PCoAs), or isolated unilateral internal carotid artery severe stenosis/occlusion (g

Decreased ¹³N-labeled ammonia uptake in the ipsilateral and contralateral hemispheres following carotid endarterectomy.

Carotid artery plaques are a leading cause of ischemic stroke, and carotid endarterectomy (CEA) is one of the major treatment approaches for this disease. Changes in cerebral metabolism following CEA remain unclear. The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of cerebral ammonia metabolism following CEA using 13N‑labeled ammonia positron emission tomography (PET) in humans. A total of 20 patients were enrolled in the present study, with a mean age of 59.5 years, comprising 16 males and four females. Of these patients, eight underwent right CEA and 12 underwent left CEA. The rate of carotid

Craniotomy with endoscopic assistance in the treatment of nasopharygeal fibroangioma.

BACKGROUND: Nasopharygeal fibroangioma (NPF) can be approached through lateral rhinotomy, the middle skull fossa approach and the transcranial-facial combined approach. It is complicated and thus results in more insults, and when adopted, the total resection rate of tumor is still low. The nasal endoscope is minimally invasive, the dead angles of a craniotomy, such as sphenoid sinus, maxillary sinus, and nasopharynx are easily approached by an endoscope. Lateral rhinotomy have to make facial incision and affects maxillary bone development. We combined the craniotomy and endoscopic approach int
