AIM: To make differential diagnosis of thymic hyperplasia and mediastinal tumor after chemotherapy (CT) in patients with Hodgkin's disease (HD).
MATERIAL AND METHODS: The examination of 182 HD patients aged 16-71 years (median 28 years) included chest x-ray computed tomography (XCT) at baseline, during treatment, each 3 months, ultrasound investigation of the chest and abdominal cavity. All the patients received 6-8 courses of the treatment according to the program BEACOPP-14 followed by radiotherapy on the residual tumor in 137 patients, or not followed in 45patients.

Hemangiopericytoma (HPC) is an exceedingly rare tumor of uncertain malignant potential. Approximately 300 cases of HPC have been reported since Stout and Murray described HPCs as "vascular tumors arising from Zimmerman's pericytes" in 1942. After further characterization, the WHO reclassified HPC as a fibroblastic/myofibroblastic tumor. BACKGROUND: Percutaneous thoracic pedicle screw fixation is challenging because of the complexity of the spinal anatomy and obscuration of normal surgical landmarks by soft tissue. We report a novel percutaneous technique in which intraoperative Iso-C C-arm navigation was used to treat complex thoracic spinal fractures.
METHODS: Between March and September 2007, percutaneous thoracic pedicle screw fixation was performed with the assistance of intraoperative Iso-C C-arm fluoroscopy in six patients (two males, four females; mean age=33 years, range=16-61 years) with unstable thoracic fractures.

Endoscopic repair of orbital blow-out fractures could become a predictable and efficient treatment alternative to traditional methods. However, maxillary sinus endoscopy provides a complex and disorienting view of the orbital floor. To be a useful and consistent technique for providing access to the orbital floor, specific knowledge of maxillary endoscopic anatomy is required. The purpose of the study was to provide an anatomic description of the orbital floor via the endoscopic approach. Objectives include defining consistent landmarks for use in endoscopic repair of orbital floor fractures.

OBJECTIVE: To report on a novel strategy for tumor localization in a 62-year-old man with hypophosphatemic tumor-induced osteomalacia (TIO).
METHODS: Repeated computed tomographic and magnetic resonance imaging scans failed to localize any tumor in a patient with adult-onset hypophosphatemic osteomalacia. Therefore, venous sampling for fibroblast growth factor-23 (FGF23)--a circulating hormone that has been identified as a causative factor for TIO--in major veins was conducted.
