[Presbyopia correction using accommodating intraocular lens].

Clinical results of binocular implantation of intraocular lens (IOL) Crystalens HD500 are assessed in 25 patients (mean age 62, 7 +/- 2,6 years) without severe intraocular diseases. Accommodating capacity of this IOL was showed to be provided by movement along the optic axis and not to exceed 1,0-1,5D, that is not enough to compensate for accommodation amplitude required for comfortable reading without spectacles. Preoperative discussion of lens features with patients, planning of aim-refraction considering minimonovision technique, precise performance of all implantation stages for this IOL m

Acute bilateral cataract with phacomorphic glaucoma in a girl with newly diagnosed type 1 diabetes mellitus.

The authors present a rare case of acute bilateral cataract with phacomorphic glaucoma in a girl with newly diagnosed type 1 diabetes mellitus without a known history of ocular problems. Within 3 months after the diagnosis of diabetes mellitus, she presented with high intraocular pressure. Her visual acuity was limited to hand motions. The patient required immediate surgical intervention. Postoperatively, the intraocular pressure normalized and bilateral visual acuity was 6/6.

Endocapsular cellulomonas as a cause of persistent postoperative endophthalmitis.

Sequestration of bacteria within the capsular fornices after cataract extraction with intraocular lens implantation can cause both acute and chronic inflammation. A case of persistent postoperative endophthalmitis caused by capsular sequestration of Cellulomonas is described. The patient underwent uncomplicated cataract extraction with intraocular lens implantation and subsequently developed acute postoperative endophthalmitis. Inflammation persisted despite several vitreous taps and the injection of intravitreal antibiotics. Definitive treatment required pars plana vitrectomy, intraocular len
