Neurenteric cyst represents a rare cystic lesion of the central nervous system, and is generally thought to result from failure of separation of neuro-ectodermal and endodermal elements during week 3 of embryogenesis. Although recurrences have been reported, only one case of craniospinal dissemination has previously been reported. BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: The pontomesencephalic veins (PMVs), especially the anterior PMV, are sometimes large enough that they could potentially affect the interpretation of CT angiograms of the circle of Willis. We investigated the frequency and anatomy of visible PMVs on 3D CT angiograms.

Between October 1989 and January 1991 five children with brain stem tumors were treated with sequential chemo- and radiotherapy. The polychemotherapy consisted of procarbazine, ifosfamide, etoposide, methotrexate, cisplatin and cytosine arabinoside. The morphological characteristics of brain death were examined in baboons and cats after artificial cerebral ischaemia. All animals showed autolytic changes in the brain, ischaemic neuronal changes, midbrain haemorrhages, focal necrosis of the brain-stem, demarcation at C 1/C 2 cord segment, and displacement of cerebellar tissue. We herein report a 28-year-old woman with type 1 diabetes with an asymptomatic pontine lesion and diabetic amyotrophy. She had suffered from diabetes from 10 years old. Treatment in a hospital reduced the hemoglobin A1c level from 14.2% to 7.2% for approximately 2 months.
