Periodontal and Periapical Outcomes of Surgical Extrusion: A Prospective Clinical Volumetric Study.

INTRODUCTION: Outcome predictors for the restoration of endodontically treated teeth mainly include cavity wall integrity and the presence o … olume. Surgical extrusion was performed by a single operator who completed the root canal treatment/retreatment and restored the teeth with a crown. One year later, all patients were controlled, and the following variables were recorded: tooth mobility, crown-to-root ratio, GI, pocket depth, BOP, interproximal papillae aspect, soft tissue rebound, periapical …

Positive outcomes with first onabotulinumtoxinA treatment persist in the long term with repeat treatments in patients with neurogenic detrusor overactivity.

OBJECTIVE: To examine whether response to first treatment with onabotulinumtoxinA is predictive of long-term treatment outcome in patients with neurogenic detrusor overactivity (NDO). PATIENTS AND METHODS: Patients with NDO who were enrolled in a 3-year extension study (after a 52-week phase III study) received onabotulinumtoxinA 'as needed', based on fulfilment of prespecified retreatment criteria. This post hoc analysis included patients who received only the 200-U dose during the phase III and extension studies. Data on mean percent reduction from baseline in urinary incontinence (UI) epis…

Adjunct medical therapy and its impact on survival and reintervention rates in patients with common femoral artery disease undergoing endovascular revascularization or open repair.

Background: Optimal pharmacotherapy is a cornerstone for the treatment of patients with symptomatic peripheral artery disease (PAD). Our aim was to evaluate the impact of adjunct medical therapy, including lipid-lowering and antiplatelet treatment in patients undergoing open or endovascular revascularization due to common femoral artery occlusive disease (CFAOD). Patients and methods: Consecutive patients undergoing either endovascular or open revascularization due to CFAOD were analyzed. Pharmacotherapy before and after treatment was registered and its impact on the following post-procedural

Efficacy of Decitabine plus Anti-PD-1 Camrelizumab in Patients with Hodgkin Lymphoma Who Progressed or Relapsed after PD-1 Blockade Monotherapy.

PURPOSE: Programmed death-1 (PD-1) blockade monotherapy is effective in relapsed/refractory classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL), but a subset of patients is recalcitrant to PD-1 inhibitors and only a minority of patients achieves durable remission. Effective treatment regimens for those with relapsed/progressive cHL after single-agent anti-PD-1 are urgently needed. Anti-PD-1 combination with the DNA-demethylating agent decitabine showed positive preliminary results in our test cohort patients who were resistant to anti-PD-1. Here, we assess the efficacy of decitabine plus anti-PD-1 therapy in an

Combination of PD-1 inhibitor with GVD (gemcitabine, vinorelbine, liposomal doxorubicin) versus GVD regimen as second-line therapy for relapsed/refractory classical Hodgkin lymphoma.

Patients with classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL) who do not achieve complete remission (CR) after second-line chemotherapy have poor clinical outcomes. Besides, conventional salvage chemotherapy regimens have an unsatisfactory CR rate. The present retrospective study reports the efficacy and toxicity of the GVD (gemcitabine, vinorelbine, liposomal doxorubicin) regimen with or without programmed cell death 1 (PD-1) inhibitor for patients with cHL who failed first-line treatment. A total of 103 patients with cHL (GVD+PD-1 group, n = 27; GVD group, n = 76) with response assessment based on positron

Delayed coronary artery occlusion after transcatheter aortic valve replacement and chimney stenting: a case report.

BACKGROUND: Delayed coronary artery occlusion (CAO) is a rare but fatal complication after transcatheter aortic valve replacement, chimney stenting is the standard technique for established CAO or impending CAO. CASE PRESENTATION: We describe a female patient who developed non-ST elevation myocardial infarction after receiving transcatheter aortic valve replacement and chimney stenting 4 months prior. An angiogram revealed delayed coronary artery occlusion with a deformed stent, which was never reported. This patient was subsequently treated with a new chimney stent. CONCLUSIONS: For self-ex

Use of drug-eluting stents in patients with critical limb ischemia and infrapopliteal arterial disease: a real-world single-center experience.

BACKGROUND: Although no drug-eluting stent (DES) has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration to treat infrapopliteal arterial disease, several industry-sponsored trials have reported the outcomes with the use of paclitaxel or sirolimus DESs. To the best of our knowledge, only one study to date has reported on the use of everolimus DESs for infrapopliteal arterial disease. In the present study, we analyzed the clinical outcomes with everolimus DESs in our real-world, single-center experience. METHODS: A total of 107 limbs with critical limb threatening ischemia (98 patients; 118 lesi

Kinetics of immune reconstitution after anti-CD19 chimeric antigen receptor T cell therapy in relapsed or refractory acute lymphoblastic leukemia patients.

INTRODUCTION: Anti-CD19 chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) -T cells, which recognize and kill both B lymphoblasts and normal B cells, result in B cell aplasia and humoral immunodeficiency. However, there were only a few detailed reports on the profile of immune reconstitution after anti-CD19 CAR-T cell therapy. METHODS: Thirty nine patients with relapsed or refractory (R/R) B cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) receiving anti-CD19 CAR-T cell therapy were enrolled. Subjects died, relapsed, received other treatment, or lost to follow-up within 60 days post-infusion were excluded. 21 patients w

Prognostic Impacts of Plasma Levels of Cyclophilin A in Patients With Coronary Artery Disease.

OBJECTIVE: Cyclophilin A (CyPA) is secreted from vascular smooth muscle cells, inflammatory cells, and activated platelets in response to oxidative stress. We have recently demonstrated that plasma CyPA level is a novel biomarker for diagnosing coronary artery disease. However, it remains to be elucidated whether plasma CyPA levels also have a prognostic impact in such patients. APPROACH AND RESULTS: In 511 consecutive patients undergoing diagnostic coronary angiography, we measured the plasma levels of CyPA, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP), and brain natriuretic peptide and evalu

CD34+ selected stem cell boosts can improve poor graft function after paediatric allogeneic stem cell transplantation.

Poor graft function (PGF) is a severe complication of haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) and administration of donor stem cell boosts (SCBs) represents a therapeutic option. We report 50 paediatric patients with PGF who received 61 boosts with CD34+ selected peripheral blood stem cells (PBSC) after transplantation from matched unrelated (n = 25) or mismatched related (n = 25) donors. Within 8 weeks, a significant increase in median neutrophil counts (0·6 vs. 1·516 × 109 /l, P < 0·05) and a decrease in red blood cell and platelet transfusion requirement (median frequencies 1 and 7
